When contacted Thursday, Wiseman declined to comment about his Facebook posts.

"It's ridiculous for someone to send my Facebook post," Wiseman said. "You guys are trying to make a mountain out of a molehill."

As the popularity of social networking sites such as Twitter, MySpace and Facebook has increased, some organizations, such as some NFL teams, have banned the use of posting comments online because of inflammatory and embarrassing remarks that invariably make it into the public domain.

To avoid online controversies, Ellyn Angelotti, a faculty member at the Poynter Institute, said that everyone, not just public officials, must to be careful of what they post on the Internet.

"A lot of people think Facebook is private so only a limited number of people can see their post," Angelotti said. "But the reality is that it can be made public.

Some people are too stupid to hold any public office. Wonder if this will improve his reelection chances?

Oh, and I just realized his name is Wiseman. Ironic, no?

I don't think anyone should have to "be careful" of what they post on the internet...

Just be truthful. Of course, putting some thought into whatever you say, WHEREVER you say it (on and off the internet) is a good idea.

(If your 'truth' is only 'safe' to say amongst a limited group of friends, then maybe you should consider what that might indicate about you and your limited group of friends...)

RB! Good to "see" you.
Were you been?

I completely agree with you.
I do have a facebook account. I rarely even look at it. I got a little freaky at first about this whole internet thing (years ago) and then again with the whole....it will send your private info everywhere thing about facebook.

I took the little quiz that was floating around to see what they knew about me.
What they know is exactly what I've put out there.

Welback RB, LTNS. Maybe his limited group of friends was not limited enough. 1600? You call that private?

NWP, I almost said 'private'; bur I chose to stick with 'limited'. And I did not necessarily mean 'limited number'.

And thanks for the 'welback'!

Thanks, me too...

I've been trying not to be distracted, and keep motivated to dig myself out of a hole I got myself into. Plus, any time I've dropped in, I see as many disheartening things here as I see in the news every day.

And its especially disheartening to me to know maybe I could do more about it if (when) I 'get my groove back'.

Trying to use that as further motivation!

RB you never lost your groove...you're still groovy and you always will be. As for Wiseman, yes this is a good piece of wisdom but it's lost on the ears that need to hear it most.
Far better for them to warn each other and say "be careful about telling your true feelings, we must keep up appearances".

At least that's the way THEY see it.
Honesty is not as important as appearance...must be a Bible Belt thing.
I could respect him more if he just came out in public and said these despicable things. He might not be holding public office very long but I'd respect him more.

That means he's also a gutless wonder.
