I listened to the interview by Tom Ashbrook of WBUR of a number of "Occupiers." These were, in my view, very articulate and well-presented representatives. What thinkst thou?

A few weeks ago, California's Department of Employment Development (Unemployment Department) changed from issuing checks on unemployment claims. Instead, they had made a unilateral decision to issue a Bank of America debit card where they would deposit unemployment benefit funds. The rationale the State used was that the cards and accounts were "free" to the consumer and the funds were more secure and faster (by at least 2-4 days).

Now, B of A decides to charge $5/mo fee on all their debit cards. What better way for them to say "Screw You"to the EDD and a lot of unemployed Californians! The bank sees a helpless population and they attack the lambs like a pack of wolves.

B of A is both sick and pathetic!

"Occupy" has even made it to Palm Springs, with hundreds lining the streets in protest. Not a hippie in sight though, mostly very ordinary Americans sensing an opportunity to be heard, at least a tiny bit.

I suspect that it will get a lot worse before it gets better.

Yes. They were articulate and represented their thoughts, well. There is Brie the revolutionary, John the socialist, Peter the activist pro, and Todd the long ago head of the SDS. What they have in common is a hatred of capitalism and an opportunity to use the current real issues of the day -- and the folks suffering from them -- to try to advance their political objectives (caveat: I think John's objective is John -- I think he is an Arsehole -- he should go far -- probably in Washington or on Wall street:-)). Where they stand apart is Brie wants to tear it all down and build from scratch, Todd wants to work within the system, Peter is more about smaller steps, and John wants a third party along the lines of workers for utopia -- and probably envisions himself as its Maximum leader. I think the race is on to see which co-opting faction wins the mob/petitioners/protesters.
Yours,
Issodhos

Clearly, Iss, you were listening with your political agenda in front of you, instead of objectively....

I didn't hear much in the way of "anti-capitalist" rhetoric, and yes, there was some discussion of a third party, but for you to pretend that it was a socialist-marxist gabfest is just nonsensical and disingenuous.
