Welcome to Reader Rant on the first day of April, or April Fools' Day! devil It is also Palm Sunday, when Jesus was welcomed into Jerusalem with the waving of palms denoting that he was called "King of Kings". This is the beginning of Holy Week.

April 5th is Maundy, or Last Supper Thursday
April 6th is Good Friday, April 7th is Easter Vigil Saturday

My youngest son's favorite April Fools' Day Joke-When he was about 10 years old, he made up Mr. Scoutgal's and my bed with dead leaves and bugs. He thought it was hilarious. He's lucky that I let him live. rolleyes

Have a great week, Ranters! cool

We're here at Holy Week, hope you enjoy dying your Easter eggs- if its your tradition. Here's Julia Child's recipe for the perfect hard boil egg, if interested: bring water to roiling boil, drop in eggs, remove from heat, cover and let sit for 17 minutes, then pour ice cubes over eggs to stop cooking, and pat dry eggs. None of the green rings from over-boiled eggs will be present. Dye away! Have a joyous Holy Week. If you're a satanist/atheist/whatever please disregard this post and, I beg you, please don't turn me into DHS as a "terrorist." But, I do have suspicious about the motives of the Easter Bunny. Has the TSA body scanned him, yet? Is there any reward for turning him in?

WARNING! DANGER! When you pour the ice cubes over the eggs to arrest the cooking, make sure that the eggs are still in the water! Don't drain (unless you're making egg salad!). Dump the ice when the eggs are still in the water! Important. Leave the water in the pot and, when cool, remove the eggs. You can then dye them. If any of this confuses you, please post with any of your questions. I'll try to answer them. btw- Did the TSA scan the Easter Bunny's basket? Suspicious, a possible terrorist? I want to turn to Easter Bunny into the DHS as possible terrorist!

I have changed the Science and Technology category a bit by amending the title of the health/medicine topic and adding a topic "science and scientific thought". I felt the old breakdown was not conducive to clear postings.

I moved numan's "Science News" post to the new topic because it fit better there.

DHS did scan the Easter Bunny. But all they did was to confiscate all of his Cadbury eggs and let him go.

Sweet deal! Love those Cadbury eggs- in moderation of course. I received an Easter card years ago which had a chocolate rabbit saying, "Huh?" I thought that it was funny. I still have it somewhere, maybe. I've noticed that females are into sending and receiving cards. If Hall Mark had to depend upon types like me for business, they'd have been bankrupt long ago.

Three blondes died in a car crash trying to jump the Grand Canyon and are at the pearly gates of heaven. St Peter tells them that they can enter the gates only if they can answer one simple religious question. The question posed by St Peter is "What is Easter"?

The first blonde replies, "Oh, that's easy! It's the holiday in November when everyone gets together, eats turkey and are thankful..." "Wrong!, you are not welcome here, I'm afraid. You must go to the other place!" replies St Peter.

He turns to the second blonde, and asks her the same question: "What is Easter?" The second blonde replies, "Easter is the holiday in December when we put up a nice tree, exchange presents, and celebrate the birth of Jesus."St Peter looks at the second blonde, bangs his head on the on the pearly gates in disgust and tells her she's wrong and will have to join her friend in the other place. She is not welcome in Heaven.

He then peers over his glasses at the third blonde and asks, "Do YOU know what Easter is"? The third blonde smiles confidently and looks St Peter in the eyes, "I know what Easter is." "Oh?" says St Peter, incredulously. "Easter is the Christian holiday that coincides with the Jewish celebration of Passover. Jesus and his disciples were eating at the last supper and Jesus was later deceived and turned over to the Romans by one of his disciples. The Romans took him to be crucified and he was stabbed in the side, made to wear a crown of thorns, and was hung on a cross with nails through his hands and feet. He was buried in a nearby cave which was sealed off by a large boulder." St Peter smiled broadly with delight. The third blonde continued... "Every year the boulder is moved aside so that Jesus can come out and, if he sees his shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter."
