That's not how McCain is characterized in book by political journalists John Heilemann and Mark Halperin, Game Change. Senator McCain comes off as a non-confrontational acquiescer, and Steve Schmidt does all of the heavy lifting for the campaign - putting mouthy Palin in her place.

Here is another very clear elucidation on Candidate Romney's Bain responsibilities and representations. It does seem that, no matter how fast he works the Etch-A-Sketch, he will not escape the impossibility of coming and going at the same time. Romney can't shirk responsibility There once was a candidate from Kent Whose "tool" measured three feet when bent. To save himself trouble, He put it in double, And instead of coming, he went.

Aside from tax dodges and perhaps questionable income streams (how does one accumulate 105M million in an IRA fer crissake?), I think one of the reasons for Romney’s reticence is the following. To do so might cast further questions on the Latter Day Saints money making machine and their blurry line between an individual’s income and tax exemptions granted to religious institutions in the US. I am not trying to single out the Mormons, but they are very good at taking care of their own and of using the US tax code to save money. One big happy family. Watching a religious leader celebrate a mall may seem surreal, but City Creek reflects the spirit of enterprise that animates modern-day Mormonism. The mall is part of a sprawling church-owned corporate empire that the Mormon leadership says is helping spread its message, increasing economic self-reliance, and building the Kingdom of God on earth. “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints attends to the total needs of its members,” says Keith B. McMullin, who for 37 years served within the Mormon leadership and now heads a church-owned holding company, Deseret Management Corp. (DMC), an umbrella organization for many of the church’s for-profit businesses. “We look to not only the spiritual but also the temporal, and we believe that a person who is impoverished temporally cannot blossom spiritually.” How the Mormons make money

I will stick my neck out here to make a prediction: What Gov. Romney is hiding is how he managed to build his IRA up to 22 million dollars. I see you already raised this point PIA. My error. But I also read it was more like 105M as I posted. Releasing the forms would clarify this, and other questions. Mr. Romney will sooner or later be compelled to to comply. Should be interesting when he finally does.
