...by that I mean: Is the CIA a conservative 'agency' or a progressive 'agency'?

If they overthrow governments, isn't that conservative?

What about drug sales? Isn't the progressive?

...but to overthrow governments selling drugs to buy arms, that would mean they are conservative, right?

If Geithner's dad and Obama's mom 'worked' for 'The Agency' - would that then explain Tim Geithner's positive conservative/big business gestures towards Wall Street and Obama's right-leaning moves such as NDAA, assassination on demand, drone attacks, etc?

I don't think the CIA is a partisan organization. They collect intelligence and do the bidding of whatever administration is in power.

Or does whatever administration is in power do the bidding of the CIA? · · wink

I think I agree with Numan on this one...it's the administrations doing the bidding of the CIA, and they BETTER HAD or else the CIA might make a few moves to drastically shorten the lives of any who think otherwise.

And such is typical of several of the world's large industrialized nations, it would seem, past and present. What WE call the CIA has many names in other parts of the world, innit true that?

The CIA is the primary and most important source of information on "what the world is really like." Being the most important source, they are in a position where whatever information the provide becomes "sacred text" and must be obeyed. As a beaurcratic organizaiton, they have a quasi-life of their own, and will do whatever it takes to perpetuate their survival.

Though not partisan, their leadership has always tended to be on the conservaive side.

Their information is their power, within the U.S. Power Structure. They do not lighlty share that power or give it away.

They are a willing tool of U.S. foreign policy.

They are on the side of the U.S.A., as the define it.

As much as U.S.S.R. = K.G.B.
