I voted no....
but I am able to live in a "safe" area
and I recognize that others will have different circumstances.
Understood. I tried to frame the question to not be judgmental, just to see what the prevailing psychology might be.
A curious thing, I had a dream last night where I shot a guy in self-defense with a shotgun (I thought of doing this poll more than a week ago, however). I have never had such a dream like that, or indulged in any sort of a similar fantasy. Go figure. It was a nearly completely emotionless experience, no fear, no revulsion. I didn't want to shoot though, and waited until I was shot at, even though I knew it was going to happen and was in a great ambush position.
Had another dream a few weeks ago that would normally be in the nightmare category, you know, where you fall off a cliff and wake up just before hitting the bottom (you can die that way I've heard). Drove off a cliff probably 1000' high, calmly opened the car door and pushed myself away, rotated for a proper diving into deep water just like I'd done it a hundred times before, went in about fifteen feet and swam to the surface, wondering in my dream
why I wasn't scared.
