A Detroit-area man was so determined to get to Michigan from Arizona that he refused to stop and contact authorities after one of his passengers died, police said Wednesday.

The man, a 62-year-old Clinton Township resident, has not been charged and authorities were awaiting toxicology results from an autopsy performed on the body of the 31-year-old woman who died.

I noticed that my "dead of the night" post didn't make it... sigh.

I find it interesting that he researched his responsibilities for notifying authorities.

I wondered if there was any 'ilnterstate commerce' implications for transporting a dead body.

Exactly, she was just sitting there, dead as a doornail. He was he one in the hurry to get to his destination. Men are always in such a rush to get the job done.

In all seriousness, I'm not sure how I might have reacted. His 92 year old mother, who is wheelchair bound, wanted to get home, and urged him to continue. He was distraught. He was more comfortable going to authorities he knew. She was already dead, so he couldn't revive her. He was concerned with his mother's welfare. Where would you want to stop in between. AZ? OK? KS? He was probably a liberal and was afraid he'd be arrested for his political beliefs. The sad part is, he didn't have AC.
