Add yet another musician to the list of the recently departed:
Quote:
Mic Gillette, renowned trumpet and trombone player and founding member of the legendary Oakland funky soul band Tower of Power, died suddenly of a heart attack over the weekend. He was 64.
Gillette started playing with members of seminal funk outfit back in 1966 and as first trumpet, he was a powerful sonic force behind Tower of Power’s rise to prominence in the 1970s.

Why is Leslie Nielsen STILL dead?

Quote:
... This week there have been waves of online sympathy over the passing of actor Leslie Nielsen prompting many to quote their favourite and most memorable lines from films such as Airplane! and The Naked Gun.

The only trouble is Nielsen actually died in November 2010 aged 84 ...

Paul Kantner, guitarist and co-founder of Jefferson Airplane died at 74 last week. In a strange coincidence Signe Anderson, the original female vocalist with the band died on the same day as Kantner.

Bob Elliott, the Deadpan Half of Bob and Ray Comedy Team, Dies at 92

Quote:
Bob Elliott, who as half of the comedy team Bob and Ray purveyed a distinctively low-key brand of humor on radio and television for more than 40 years, died on Tuesday at his home in Cundy's Harbor, Me. He was 92.

His death was confirmed by his son Chris Elliott, the actor and comedian, who said his father had had throat cancer.

Mr. Elliott and his partner, Ray Goulding -- Bob was the more soft-spoken one, Ray the blustery, deep-voiced one -- were unusual among two-person comedy teams. Rather than one of them always playing it straight and the other handling the jokes, they took turns being the straight man.

James 'Red' Moore, Negro League legend passes away at 99

Quote:
James "Red " Moore, a long-time first baseman in the Negro Leagues, passed away in Atlanta, Georgia on February 6, 2016. He was 99.

Born November 18, 1916 in Atlanta, Moore developed his talents at Booker T. Washington High School. His exploits in the field and at the plate attracted the attention of the Chattanooga Choo Choos of the Negro Southern League in 1935. Word of his play at first base spread through the league and he was picked up by the famed Newark Eagles of the Negro National League in 1936. He joined an infield that earned the nickname of "The Million Dollar Infield," which included Hall of Famers Willie Wells at shortstop and Ray Dandridge at third base.
