British composer Sir Peter Maxwell Davies dies aged 81

Quote:
Celebrated British composer Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, a former Master of the Queen's Music, has died at the age of 81.

He was known for his modern and avant-garde works, but his most famous piece was a simple, haunting lament for solo piano - Farewell To Stromness.

"He was, right to the end, a pioneer," Stephen Lumsden, Managing Director of music agency Intermusica, said.

The Salford-born musician, who had leukaemia, died at home in Orkney.

Kieth Emerson of Emerson Lake and Palmer is also dead. Poor guy shot himself because he had nerve damage in his hand which prevented him from giving his best performance for his fans.

Awfully sad but we old folks have to realize that as we get older some things simply are not possible anymore.

Frank Sinatra Jr., 72

Quote:
"I think in my generation, when I came along in the early '60s, the type of music that was in vogue in society in those days had moved on to another kind of music," Sinatra told the newspaper. "I was trying to sell antiques in a modern appliance store."

Sinatra also did some acting, appearing in almost 20 shows, including the animated series "Family Guy," and playing himself in an episode of "The Sopranos."

"Frank Sinatra, Jr. was a friend to Family Guy, and a friend to me. I'm saddened at his passing, but grateful to have known him. RIP, Frank," tweeted Seth MacFarlane, the show's creator and star.

This hurts so bad that I need some comedy.
This might be the last thing Garry Shandling did...
Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee with Jerry Seinfeld and Garry Shandling.

"It's Great That Garry Shandling Is Still Alive"

I am just gutted frown

Remembering Patty Duke: An Actress Who Worked Miracles

This one affected me pretty significantly.

Me too! I was too young to think of her as a "woman" in 1963 but she reminded me of what a really cute and nice babysitter would be like, I guess. By the time she appeared in The Miracle Worker however, I really enjoyed her skillful mastery of the starring role.

Therefore I do count her as one of those precious little cultural touchstones that marked my path growing up and 69 is way too young.
I keep wondering why our generation is dropping like flies.
Sepsis from a ruptured intestine is serious business but in most cases it can be dealt with, so I am guessing the poor lady must have been in exceptionally frail condition prior to that issue.

I am sorry to see her go frown

It’s astonishing how many of “our people”are departing these days. Something to do with timing methinks.

Blackjack Mulligan dead at 73 (professional wrestler)

Quote:
Robert Windham, better known as Blackjack Mulligan, the patriarch of the Windham wrestling family that includes three performers on the current WWE roster, passed away...

Windham, 73, was a major star in pro wrestling during the 70s and 80s. He was only in the business for two years, working under his real name, before he got his big break in the WWWF in 1971, taking the Blackjack Mulligan name, copying the gimmick with the black cowboy hat and black glove of Blackjack Lanza (Jack Lanza), who had become one of the top heels in the business a few years earlier...

Mulligan's son Barry and Kendall Windham, were both wrestlers and Barry was one of the best wrestlers in the world in the late 80s. His son-in-law, Mike Rotunda, was also a star wrestler and Mike's three children, Windham (Bray Wyatt), Taylor (Bo Dallas) and daughter Mika work for WWE...
