A commenter on another blog wrote that the Republicans are three state legislatures away from being able to call a Constitutional Convention and rewriting the document.

I have never given the number of Republican State Legislatures much thought.

But, the comment is absolutely correct and Liberals better wake themselves the Hell up and stop the Republican's impending fascism - or Liberals better get used to fascism because the Republicans will go after every thing Liberal that we hold dear.

Republicans are already repealing ACA without a replacement. This is only the beginning and the writing is on the wall. mad

Constitution Daily

It is a little more complex than at first blush, 34 states to call, 38 needed to ratify. How ever, even the possibility it might be tried makes me nervous.

Now for a short trip down the rabbit hole, maybe a Constitutional Convention has been the goal of the Republican Party and their known and unknown backers all along. A take over of the US by Constitutional means.

I see a lot of reading in my future.

eek devil is in the details...

I have long been of the opinion conservatives would not have voted to ratify the Constitution. Their preference would have been to have a federal government in name only.

It's my opinion that if CONservatives get their way with re-writing the Constituton, religion will be front and center for the New America (...and I'm not talking Judaism or Islam). We'll essentially become a Christian theocracy.

Just what I want: To live in a country where a lot of mentally ill nut cases that think an imaginary sky fairy influences, and has influence, over their daily lives - and make me live that way under their rule.

No thank you.

If we actually have a constitutional convention I suspect it will end with blood in the streets.

If you read the Constitutional Daily, linked above, there are 27 active petitions for a Constitutional Convention - the one mentioned by name concerns balanced budget resolutions.

Somebody sure is trying.

There's a reason for the adage: Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely

Which party has absolute power on January 20th @ noon? Which party is only three state legislatures away from calling a Constitutional Convention while having the votes to alter or change completely, the Constitution?

Some react with a knee-jerk reaction only after the fact; some have the ability to forecast future events given current information.
