Quote:
Wilt Chamberlain set the single-game scoring record in the National Basketball Association (NBA) by scoring 100 points for the Philadelphia Warriors in a 169–147 win over the New York Knicks on March 2, 1962, at Hershey Sports Arena in Hershey, Pennsylvania. It is widely considered one of the greatest records in basketball. Chamberlain set five other league records that game including most free throws made, a notable achievement, as he was regarded as a poor free throw shooter. The teams broke the record for most combined points in a game (316). That season, Chamberlain averaged a record 50.4 points per game, and he had broken the NBA single-game scoring record (71) earlier in the season in December with 78 points. The third-year center had already set season scoring records in his first two seasons. In the fourth quarter, the Knicks began fouling other players to keep the ball away from Chamberlain, and they also became deliberate on offense to reduce the number of possessions for Philadelphia. The Warriors countered by committing fouls of their own to get the ball back.

Not only that but I have a curious aside. Soo-at one time I was a basketball player of non repute. I was better in the water surfing and body surfing—- but we won’t go there for now.

So—about ten years ago our little group of fake golfers were playing golf at a wonderful local course named Diamond Woods. Ahead of us was a slow foursome. Hell-they all were really slow- but the whole damn course was slow that day so there you go. One of the players in that foursome ahead of us was a guy named Darrall Tucker Imhoff.

Of course— that name means nothing to all of you morons. Just who in the hell was/is Mr. Imhoff? Cough…..He was one of the four or five poor suckers who were assigned to “guard” “The Big Dipper” on that famous/infamous 100 point night………….

Sometimes I can very much be an saint. So I asked ol Darrall— as I stood upon the tee at the Ol DW:
“Did Wilt take you to school or were you already in need of special Ed”. He replied—“ It was just not me (you chimichanga)-but our whole defense of two or three were taken to school”.

There is/was no doubt in my mind that I could have shut down the old Dipper then and there.

Only——If I had been there.
