Charles Krauthammer
The Washington Post
March 16, 2017

Quote:
The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away, but for governments itís not that easy. Once something is given ó say, health insurance coverage to 20 million Americans ó you take it away at your peril. This is true for any government benefit, but especially for health care. Thereís a reason not one Western democracy with some system of national health care has ever abolished it.

The genius of the left is to keep enlarging the entitlement state by creating new giveaways that are politically impossible to repeal. For 20 years, Republicans railed against the New Deal. Yet, when they came back into office in 1953, Eisenhower didnít just keep Social Security, he expanded it.

Gee, progress just keeps happening, no matter how much some people love a past that never existed. Whoda thunk it?

Conservatives love saying that "a government big enough to give you things is also big enough to take them away" but in all my life the only governments who ever took away anything WERE conservative governments.

So what ARE they really saying? Here's what they are really saying:
"You jerks just wait till we get back in power. We are going to DESTROY the safety and security of your very lives as punishment for letting us lose."
