Apologies if this is covered in another thread... Am trying to catch up, but it takes a while...

I've been looking for any details... at all, that cover the budget plan for Defense. Other than a vague inference that the president will give more details in May, I can't seem to find a breakdown of where the dollars will be spent. Conversely, the budget cuts in other items seem to be explained in some depth.

Would be nice to see the specific amounts that are planned on each item. Ie. the F35, the FA 18, and particularly, for the increases planned for the navy. On these items, and the planned increases for current actions in other countries, it should be interesting to see just how much has... and is being spent today.
Hints of building more permanent installations in foreign countries are worrisome.

Another concern is the amount to be planned for military engagement that is planned to offset the cuts in the diplomatic services. Building walls, positioning defensive weapons, and hardening diplomatic institutions seems to be replacing the kind of foreign relations that we've been used to.

It will be interesting to see if details will be forthcoming or whether these costs will be buried under the "Keep America Safe" slogan.

I, too, have found no details regarding where the new $54 billion is expected to be directed. The bill, of course, will be much bigger, once the cost of the new wars are figured in. I thought Chuck Todd made a good, if perfunctory, effort to hold Mick Mulvaney's feet to the fire regarding the deficit in the budget blueprint. I was impressed with just how sleazy Mulvaney seemed on camera.

I think the targets of the cuts were intended to be the bigger story. Trump wants to be seen as cutting bureaucracy, and Mulvaney wants to be the meat ax. He has always been a heartless ideologue. Bannon's fingerprints are all over this. This is step 2+ of Karl Rove's effort to destroy American institutions. In Bannon's mind, trade cannot be free as long as there is a government, so the government must be destroyed. The coup can then follow. He's Grover Norquist on steroids.
