The latest death of a prisoner on Sheriff David Clarke's watch was caused by dehydration after the prisoner had been denied water for seven days. Talk about cruel and unusual punishment.

Governor Scott Walker has refused to remove Clarke from his position because "he doesn't feel it's his job," though he certainly has the power. Walker says it is up to the voters to remove Clarke next time he comes up for reelection. So this cruelty and incompetence continues until the next election and maybe beyond since Sheriff Clarke is highly regarded by the GOP?

Um. How about murder charges for the officers who turned off the water to the cell and did not bring the prisoner beverages with his meals?

Good grief. This story is sickening. I have never heard of such callousness and inhumanity, top to bottom.

Pretty much defines the Grand Old Party.

Possible good news for Milwaukee, but bad new for America! Clarke is being considered for homeland security position. This looks like a trial balloon to see if anyone is paying attention to terrible appointments. The GoOP is looking to apply Milwaukee standards nationwide.

The White House is considering David Clarke, the sheriff of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, for a position at the Department of Homeland Security, three people familiar with the administration’s planning told POLITICO.

Clarke is in line to be appointed as assistant secretary at DHS’ Office of Partnership and Engagement, which coordinates outreach to state, local and tribal officials and law enforcement. The position does not require Senate confirmation.

A senior administration official cautioned it’s “not a done deal yet.”

Clarke, a longtime supporter of President Donald Trump, has long been rumored as a possible candidate for a job in the administration and met with Trump in November at Trump Tower. He also spoke at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland last year.
