Welcome to the
Reader Rant Round Table for May 2017

From Bona Dea in Ancient Rome, to the historic International Workers Day, to centuries old traditional spring celebrations all through the Northern Hemisphere, May represents spring blossoming into summer, the start of vacation seasons, the impending close of the school year and, hopefully, the cessation of hellish spring storms and the beginning of some mild weather before the heat waves come in.

It is the Season of Emancipation in Barbados, the month of devotions to The Virgin Mary, and even World Naked Gardening Day!
Even Alicia Silverstone wants you to enjoy your nakedness during the Month of May.
After spending some time with Woody Harrelson and his wife, she's no longer afraid of being naked.

The Wiki folks list well over six hundred observances that fall in the Month of May, so take your pick, there's something for everybody in May.
And if you love emeralds, and you were born in May, that's your birthstone.

And if you can't be anything else, always be Brian May, who might not have been IN the Month of May, but his last name is May, and he MAY be one of the smartest people on Earth.
And if you're a hedgehog, Brian May loves you very much.

Hopefully this is a turning-back point for the Alt-Right. On other blogs, they're spitting mad and shaking their tiny fists in a fury. Hmm

Did you know our great and wonder new president coined the phrase: prime the pump

It's true! Mr. Trump told The Economist that during an interview:

Quote:
But beyond that it’s OK if the tax plan increases the deficit?

Trump: It is OK, because it won’t increase it for long. You may have two
years where you’ll…you understand the expression “prime the pump”?

Yes.

Trump: We have to prime the pump.

It’s very Keynesian.

Trump: We’re the highest-taxed nation in the world. Have you heard that expression before, for this particular type of an event?

Priming the pump?

Trump: Yeah, have you heard it?

Yes.

Trump: Have you heard that expression used before? Because I haven’theard it. I mean, I just…I came up with it a couple of days ago and Ithought it was good. It’s what you have to do.

Trump: It's...Yeah, what you have to do is you have to put something in before you can get something out.

Except that pesky, Trump-hating dictionary by Merriam-Wesbster points out the phrase was coined in 1933. crazy

Happy Mother's day to all! If any of you are worried about creeping fascism, here is a Mother's blast from the past, reassuring us that it cant happen here! And, we always thought they were hyperbolic!

In case you want to sing along here are the lyrics! I will lead off with the first stanza!
Tat
Cant happen here lyrics

It can't happen here
It can't happen here
I'm telling you, my dear
That it can't happen here
Because I been checkin' it out, baby
I checked it out a couple a times, hmmmmmmmm

And I'm telling you
It can't happen here
Oh darling, it's important that you believe me
(Bop bop bop bop)
That it can't happen here

Who could imagine that they would freak out somewhere in Kansas...
