Greger, you have given me NEW inspiration!
Next time I am at bat for the RT, it will not be the usual tripe.
I'm taking the snarky route!!

HBO finally put the show up last night's Real Time to view for those of us who didn't watch the show live because they edited out a phrase that Bill Maher uttered.

Maher was interviewing junior Senator Sasse and Sasse was talking about Millennials in his book in which he says that "there's something weird in human history if you can't tell 10, 15, 20 and 25 year olds apart - because that's new."

The topic turned to dressing up for Halloween.

Maher: "Halloween used to be a kid thing."

Sasse: "It's not anymore?"

Maher: "Not out here, adults dress-up for Halloween. They don't do that in Nebraska?"

Sasse: "It's frowned upon. We don't do that quite as much."

Maher: "I need to get to Nebraska more often."

Sasse: "We'd love to have you in the fields with us."

Maher: "Work in the fields? Senator, I'm a house n----r."

That's it. It was a joke. It was actually funny for a white guy to turn the slavery paradigm on its head and say it about whites. No need for everyone to get all riled-up - which nearly everyone did. Hmm

Bill Maher is half Irish and half Jewish. Both of which have known a lot of repression, bigotry, and racism dating back long before the Black race was forced into slavery.

Gerald of Wales had this to say about the Irish back in 1185...
Quote:
They use their fields mostly for pasture. Little is cultivated and even less is sown. The problem here is not the quality of the soil but rather the lack of industry on the part of those who should cultivate it. This laziness means that the different types of minerals with which hidden veins of the earth are full are neither mined nor exploited in any way. They do not devote themselves to the manufacture of flax or wool, nor to the practice of any mechanical or mercantile act. Dedicated only to leisure and laziness, this is a truly barbarous people. They depend on animals for their livelihood and they live like animals.

Black people aren't the only ones who have suffered at the hands of white Europeans.

High praise indeed for the Irish --- if only Gerald of Wales had been able to understand what he was saying !!

I am SO proud of Los Angeles today.
Normally this would be the day for the L.A. Gay Pride Parade but the gay community decided that they wanted to OPEN UP THE TENT and make it a much wider and broader theme: RESIST!!

And hundreds of thousands more are showing up to take part, and it is wonderful.

Thank you so much to the L.A. area gay community for opening up your embrace to share. We know that the larger community was always welcome in your parade anyway but it was a selfless act of giving and sharing for you to make such a bold and generous move like this.
It shows that you love the larger community, and the turnout of all the happy and committed RESISTORS shows that the city is loving you BACK.

Reuters: RESIST MARCH

LA's pride parade was today? That's a bit early. It's only the 11th. Hmm Are you sure it was THE Pride Parade?

Seattle had a Gay #Resist March today as well, but the Pride Parade is the 25th - as it should be.
