Gun Deaths In America deaths - FiveThirtyEight. This is a comprehensive database that should inform any discussion.

I have not read the citation but will comment on your commentary.

Every conservative will say, You as a liberal are citing liberal lies .... so how exactly do you believe that it will inform anyone who has a closed mind?

The reality is there will never be a real discussion on guns .... sorry NWP .... keep it real

If all good children were all armed, those 16 kids would not be shot.

I used to think I was an idealist but you guys have proven me wrong. I guess I am a plain jane pragmatic realist.

Here is the fundamental problem, conservatives, including many Republicans, view this as a idiot-ological issue, steeped first in a paranoid fear of the federal government but also in the NRA lies regarding the reasons the 2nd was included in the BoR. It would not matter if 1M kids died in gun violence, the idiot-ology remains.

There is not much anyone can do about the paranoia but if anyone would attack the NRA meme with a complete set of facts, I believe it would gradually dissolve the nonsensical position they have taken. The 2nd should have been nullified in 1903 when we no longer required state levies of militia. Once nullified it would become a state issue and you and I could petition the various states to come to their respective senses.

The irony, of course, is that it has always been a State issue. They have the ability (under the Second Amendment) to ban firearms altogether, except for use with the Militia. Unfortunately, the majority of the Supreme Court has perverted the text of the document itself to write out the controlling clause. The recent decisions would be unrecognizable to the founders.

I don't understand why they didn't try it with another book first, without standing behind it. Maybe they only had the one book?

Emphasis mine

It is essential to the Right reading of the 2nd Amendment to ignore the throat-clearing at the beginning.
