So ISIS is in the TILE BUSINESS now? Hobby Lobby marked all the packages "TILE SAMPLES".

MSN
Quote:
Hobby Lobby executed an agreement to purchase over 5,500 artifacts in December 2010 for $1.6 million. Prosecutors said acquisition of the artifacts "was fraught with red flags" and that packages bore shipping labels that described their contents as "ceramic tiles."

NYT
Quote:
Hobby Lobby wired payments to seven separate personal bank accounts, the prosecutors said. The first dealer then shipped the items marked as clay or ceramic tiles to three Hobby Lobby sites in Oklahoma. All of the packages had labels falsely identifying their country of origin as Turkey, prosecutors said.

It's just like a Christian business to help fund one of their Abrahamic brother's dirty deeds. coffee

Seriously, who among us hasn't "approximately four hundred fifty (450) ancient cuneiform tablets and approximately three thousand (3,000) ancient-clay bullae" (looted from Iraq while babies’ heads were getting blown off) from Israeli and Emirati antiquities dealers, then lied about its value, provenance and contents of the big heavy boxes which were shiped to America with "Made in Turkey" on the boxes, in order to avoid government scrutiny? Hmm

The multiple layers of deception makes it obvious that they knew the crimes they were committing. This should not just be solved by giving the artifacts back and paying a fine. People should go to prison for receiving stolen property. Everybody who knew about this and especially everybody who signed off on it. If that means prominent Green family members, so be it.

A corporation did not decide to commit these crimes, individual people did.

Exactly. Yet the Green family think they are so pious just because the SCOTUS said they don't have to offer their female employees slut pills - that they think they can do whatever they damn well please! ...and oh! Hallelujah and pass the ammunition. coffee

The funny thing is that their insurers have to charge more for a policy without slut pills because pregnancy is so expensive. That's why their insurers are volunteering to create separate individual policies for hobby lobby female employees that cost $0 a month (without hobby lobby involvement) just so they can give them free slut pills.

Hobby Lobby can pay for the more expensive policies and every employee who takes the free slut pills just makes more money for the insurance company. win-win!

(Well I guess Hobby lobby loses because they are paying more and their female employees who want slut pills still get them for free.)

*By slut pills here I mean regular birth control, morning after pills, and RU486 abortion pills. I have nothing against the ladies who need them.

This is yet another example of what you can get away with if you got the bucks. This, as far as I can tell, started on the Obama watch and the Trump watch has taken on this 'duty' (making sure that them that got don' go to jail no matter what they do - they just get to pay big fines and get on with their lives) In other words gov seems to have just created yet another cost of doing business in the good Old USA. There is, incidentally, a really long list of folks who have done well under this one - banks, especially.

My fond hope is that, eventually, somebody with even a slight case of integrity and law abiding, may make a run at changing this. I also, incidentally, believe in tooth fairies, Easter bunnies, and the possibility of winning a big lottery because "somebody gots to win!". Just saying...............

Hobby Lobby's crime actually happened 6 years ago! So it predates ISIS. One of the major failings of the Obama administration is that the Justice Department has become a bunch of wimps. James Comey was the federal AG for New York when he asked his troops if they had never lost a case. A bunch of hands went up and he told them they were in the Chickenshit Club because they were so afraid to try hard cases that they might lose. It's kind of like downhill skiing: If you never fall down, then you are not trying hard enough.

The last big case where top executives went to jail was Enron. It's not that there haven't been any major corporate crimes since then, but rather the Justice Department is loath to prosecute cases they might lose. Instead they make it a "corporate crime" and it settles with a big fine. Nobody goes to jail, and in fact most times they don't even lose their job.

Don't expect Trump's Justice Department to be any better.
