Tat and PIA are talking about scenarios that I remember hearing about as a kid.
My father's specialty was weapons effects.
He died in 1986, and it took four scientists to replace him, but apparently they didn't quite fill his shoes.
The scenarios being talked about above are what kept him up at night.

Pentagon Plans to Hunt Data on GIs in A-Tests - WaPo 1978

If we're going to touch on the issue of unqualified workers at nuke plants, let's also include people who are downright dangerous.
David Grisham, a self-ordained "pastor" and head of an end times scenario fundamentalist Christian hate group called "Repent Amarillo" was head of security at the PANTEX nuclear weapons assembly plant in Amarillo Texas until he was finally FIRED in May, 2011.

Here he is last year harassing kids in his own personal war on Christmas.

Here he is harassing people attending a private swingers night club.

At one time his "Army of God" (translates literally to "Hezbollah") engaged in a "spiritual warfare map", but I am having difficulty tracking an image of that down, as he scrubbed it from his old site before losing the domain altogether.

Head of security at a nuke plant, end times scenario pastor, yeah...it was that crazy ten years ago...2007, when he still had that job.
PANTEX is the largest nuclear weapons assembly plant in the country.

At the time of "Pastor" Grisham's employment, it was being operated by Babcock & Wilcox, designers of the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant. They began operating PANTEX immediately after emerging from bankruptcy in 2000 and ran the plant until 2014.

That's not just your run-of-the-mill nuclear power plant. That's a nuclear weapons assembly plant! Talk about "not in my backyard". They actually make the sub-critical chunks of plutonium and uranium that WILL make a fission reaction if brought together. That must be very exacting work, to make sure you never accidentally reach critical mass.

For example, you would have to empty the shavings bin after machining each chunk to insure not too many shavings get together. Not to mention that you have to do that work by remote control or in a full bunny suit because breathing ANY plutonium dust is a death sentence.

And not have any heads of security surreptitiously scooping up stray bits of fissionable material in order to create his own version of The Rapture.

The only good thing about it that tiny bits of scrap fissionable material are deadly, so unlikely security guards would steal it. It is also weighed very carefully at every production stage so every little scrap is accounted for.

You've enlightened me but all I can say is, having a nimrod like that "pastor" as head of security at PANTEX gave me a bad case of the heebie-jeebies, because you just never know what a nutjob like that will get in his head to try doing.
He might get up, make breakfast and see patterns on his toast that look like
Bay Bay Jeebus telling him today is the day the world must end.

Holy crap! We've had the cure for Alzheimer's Disease since 2006 but the DEA ignores the research:

The Scripps Researcg Institute is one of the most respected pure biomedical research centers in the country.
