Student loan interest will no longer be deductible but expensive PRIVATE SCHOOL tuition WILL BE.

Don't leave out the dispensations for them that have private jets.

Funny thing. Getting rid of the mortgage interest deduction and almost doubling the standard deduction is great for us: We paid off our mortgage with a small inheritance, so we would not be itemizing for the first time in decades. We have no kids, so the per-kid deduction they are getting rid of has no effect on us. No student loan (or any other loan) interest. No other big deductions to lose.

We make out like bandits, but I still think it hurts the country. The abrupt changes will make some economic activities unfeasible, so it will be very disruptive. Probably end up raising the deficit and inflation, and end up driving us into recession. The exact opposite of what Yellen has been trying to do.

There are ways to fix the tax code that would actually do three main things: increase wages/create jobs, reduce the debt, stimulate the economy - oh, and reduce income disparity to boot. But the goop has no interest in doing those things.

If there is any way out of this mess it's probably through a massive recession. As long as the economy stays strong and unemployment low Republicans will literally get away with murder.

Interesting how their policies drive us to just the kind of boom/bust economic swings that put Democrats in charge. But if that homeostatic effect was not there we would probably just have one political party!

Then there is really no reason to raise taxes on the middle-class and raise the deficit one trillion dollars to give Corporate America a tax break. smile

Sure there is!
Don't you realize that all the CON-servitards will develop amnesia and blame the 1.5 trillion dollar increase on the Democrats?
