Out of curiosity PIA why are you concerned with the medical use aspects of cannabis when both Colorado and your state (as well as mine) have legalized recreational use?

Does your concern apply to states where medical use is legalized but not recreational?

BTW I do not use cannabis. I did in my youth, but that was many many moons ago. But the fact that it remains illegal in most of the US is an absurdity beyond comprehension.

Frightened little Jeff Sessions might have an “answer" for that.

Because of my wish that all patients in the US have access to medical marijuana if it can help them. Simply by passing such a bill declaring that there are legitimate medical uses, (which has the advantage of being true), it would force the DEA to reclassify it. Then it would be available in all 50 states and US territories with any doctor's prescription.

It would also make it possible for research projects to work with it. They have been caught in a brutal Catch-22: They can't research it because it is a Class 1 drug, and it is a Class 1 drug because there is no research in the US. It really looks like it might be effective in treating and preventing Alzheimer's Disease, so being against such research is insane.

Just by passing this simple bill that does nothing but insist on the truth, and that 64% of the voters approve, we take a huge pressure off marijuana enforcement.
