I have been informed by friends of the family that William Goldman died last night. He was 87.

My first wife's ex father-in-law, Sidney Beckerman.
(Producer - Marathon Man)

William Goldman was reportedly one of the only people who wasn't terrified of Sidney Beckerman. The other one was John Milius.

Beckerman made sure that Goldman's first payment for "Marathon Man" was literally cash delivered in a brown paper sack...not because Goldman wanted it that way, because Sidney Beckerman wanted to prove he could have the cash delivered in a brown paper bag by 2:00 AM the night Goldman agreed to work on the film.

Roy Clark's life, legacy celebrated at memorial service - Photo Gallery (NewsOK). Roy Clark was probably better known for his comedy (Hee Haw), but he was one of the best guitarist and banjo players on the planet, and his influence among musicians legendary.

Willie Naulls, Knicks All-Star and Celtics Champion, Dies at 84

Quote:
Willie Naulls, a four-time All-Star forward with the Knicks, a member of three consecutive N.B.A. championship teams with the Boston Celtics and one of pro basketball’s early black stars, died on Thursday at his home in Laguna Niguel, Calif. He was 84.

The cause was respiratory failure resulting from Churg-Strauss syndrome, a rare condition that can restrict blood flow to vital organs and tissues, his wife, Dr. Anne Van de Water Naulls, said.

A fine outside shooter and a rugged rebounder at 6 feet 6 inches and 225 pounds or so, Naulls was an All-American at U.C.L.A. in 1956, his senior season, playing for the future Hall of Fame coach John Wooden. He was a second-round draft pick of the St. Louis Hawks.

Bernardo Bertolucci, Oscar-Winning Director of ‘The Last Emperor,’ Dies at 77

Quote:
Bernardo Bertolucci, whose epic “The Last Emperor” won nine Oscars and who influenced generations of filmmakers with other groundbreaking works such as “The Conformist” and “Last Tango in Paris,” in which he explored politics and sexuality through personal storytelling and audacious camera work, has died. He was 77.

His publicist, Flavia Schiavi, said Bertolucci died at his home in Rome at 7 a.m. Monday. He had been suffering from cancer.

Italy’s greatest auteur of his generation, Bertolucci managed to work both in Europe and Hollywood, though his relationship with the studios had its ups and downs. But even when he operated within the studio system, Bertolucci always managed to make films that were considered projections of his inner world.
