The electoral college gave us President Donald J. Trump, though he didn't win the popular vote. The people who voted for Trump knew he was a con artist (Trump University) when they cast their ballots.
It would be a sweet slide from grift to graft when Trump won the the presidency and surrounded himself with those of his ilk.
Look at his son-in-law, Jared Kushner. Jared had to take over the family rental business because his father went to jail. He ran the rentals like a true slumlord. He came to us deeply in debt.
And now that he's in the White House? First we hear that though Kushner only had an interim security clearance, he was in on the daily briefing and requesting "more intel
than any non-NSC employee at White House. Then there were rumbles about questionable bank loans after Trump won the election, and questions about whether he and his family were using his position to lure investors. Now there is the question of whether a country's willingness to invest in Kushner Cos affected this nation's official policy in dealing with that nation ... think Qatar.
It's not hard to picture all this as a protection ring. Don't want sanctions? Give us money. Want your foreign aid? Praise us. Oh, plus I know a lot of super secret things about you; don't make me use it!
That makes Ivanka's (with Kellyanne's help) hawking her wares look like really really small potatoes.
This administration definitely has a grafty smell.
