Uncanny isn't it?

He just gets away with pretty much anything.

And yet Mueller (the Republican appointed by Republicans) has all these indictments and guilty pleas. The proof is in the pudding, Tim. All these people around Trump are going to prison, mainly because he has hired nothing but crooks.

Honestly, sometimes I wonder if Trump makes sure everyone he hires is worse than him, just so he can fire them later. Firing people always got good ratings on Apprentice, and that's something he knows how to do. He will go down in the history books for a few things, like Biggest Liar, Most Impeachable Offenses, Most People Fired, Most Lawsuits, Most Bankruptcies, Most Bimbos Paid Off, etc.

The problem that everybody has with him and that everybody ignores, is that he isn't a politician. At least he wasn't until he got elected. It isn't smooth, he isn't cautious and he has no filter.

For the record, I will say it a again, Donald Trump is a moron. However, being a moron doesn't necessarily exclude him from being smart or successful. He is a businessman, he is running the US like he would run his businesses. I don't know how he could possibly succeed running a business this way, but everything that he is doing seems to be working the way he thinks it will. Maybe he is punking us all and this is just an act?

The record tells all, and so far it is a record of success. Next week, next year, it could all crumble. Right now, he is winning while your party is whining. The more you whine and complain, the more popular he gets. If 18 months ago you had told me that this was what would be happening, I would have said you were on drugs. I am the vice chair of my local Republican Town Committee, I not only told everybody that he was a moron, I told them he would get crushed in the general election.

So today, I am sitting back, popcorn on my lap, and enjoying the spectacle. Everything he does seems to work out in his favor. The more it works out, the more the Dems make fools of themselves. He is the embodiment of the American Dream, or maybe the Peter Principle. Either way, it is going to be a wild ride.

Tim

So, 4,000 lawsuits and six bankruptcies is considered "success"? That appears to be where we are headed, though the actual legal terminology may be different when applied to the government of a nation.

I'm aghast that you can enjoy watching the demise of America with popcorn and glee that the libs are getting whacked. That does seem to be a common sentiment among the Regressives (all they really wanted in a president was an assshole who would torment the "other side").

There is a pretentiousness about the typical Dem that makes me revel in their misery. Whether it is when they tell me that I don't know what is good for me, or when they try to tell me that they are morally superior, or maybe it is just their smarmy attitude, but whatever it is I can't get enough of it.

Politics is a contact sport, you either get tough or go home. It is also the ultimate spectator sport, everybody can sit back and bet on the outcome. The President is doing a fine job. My paycheck is larger and the Supreme Court is more conservative. While I do not like him personally, I cannot argue with what he is accomplishing. So what the hell, pass me a beer, pop some more corn, maybe make some wings or burritos. Every time I see Obama on TV lecturing the President, or see Hillary bitching about how unfair life is, or see Maxine Waters call for impeachment, or Pelosi making wild claims about Trump/Russia I know just how screwed the Dems really are. So what the hell, I will sit back and enjoy it while it lasts.

Who knows, after 8 years of Trump and then another 8 years of Pence maybe, just maybe, a Democrat may have an original idea that doesn't include raising taxes and open borders.

Business and government really don't mix. But this isn't all that unusual.

Quote:
The presidency of Ronald Reagan in the United States was marked by multiple scandals, resulting in the investigation, indictment, or conviction of over 138 administration officials, the largest number for any U.S. president.
(26 of these were in the executive branch and 16 of the 26 resulted in convictions for 8 prison sentences..

George W. Bush, speaking of morons elected by Republicans...uh...also a "businessman", 16 executive branch indictments, 16 convictions, 9 prison sentences. And despite a booming economy over 8 years how did that one wind up?...The Great Recession.

Nixon...76 executive branch indictments, 55 convictions, 15 prison sentences. He was forced to resign.(I only mention this because Republicans have such short memories.

Herbert Hoover...The Great Depression. Why? He was a businessman who believed government shouldn't regulate the "Free Market". We call that a Lasaize Faire approach today. Trump is following in his footsteps as is economic inequality and a seemingly robust economy.

See, Tim, this has all happened before. I suggest you enjoy it while you can. Roll in it, smear it all over yourself. Because when it collapses you are going to own it.

And ultimately Democrats will stoically pick up the pieces, glue your Humpty Dumpty together again and ultimately be demonized for doing what needs to be done to govern rationally(and legally).

Then we'll do it all over again. Because Republicans never learn anything from their mistakes.

He is a businessman

He's a lousy businessman. He started with hundreds of millions inherited from his father. He had no concept of honestly doing business deals, so now western banks will no longer prop him up with loans. So he's in hock to his eyeballs with the Russian oligarchs. I would not be surprised if he has a negative net worth, after you account for all the secret loans.

This is a man who bankrupted two casinos! That takes a very special talent. Very few people in the US would have the combination of delusional self-aggrandizing and poor financial planning to do that.

I'll see your popcorn and raise you a chili dog.

Donald Trump has done nothing but break things since he walked into the china shop. Thus far he has had to pay for nothing. As I mentioned above, Republicans have done this before. Eventually the bill comes due.
