Trump is fervently praying that Brett Kavanaugh gets confirmed before the rest of the stuff hits the fan. It's not all about Cohen: Judge Allows Emoluments Clause Lawsuit Against President Trump to Proceed - TIME.

I don't think I've posted this yet, but there has been a great deal of legal consternation about "why would the Trump legal team waive privilege over these tapes?" Some thought it was just dumb, some suggested that it was to muddy the waters early, so that it wouldn't be as dramatic later (something Giuliani has been hard at work doing), but I think it is much more serious than that.

One of the exceptions to privilege is if it is evidence of a conspiracy with the attorney. In other words, if the tape is evidence that Trump and Cohen colluded in committing a crime (e.g., election fraud, campaign finance violations, witness tampering), the evidence loses its privileged status. Because the tapes show at least probable cause of campaign finance violations, the judge would have had to rule on their admissability, and likely would have pierced the privilege. That ruling, and its basis, would have been public. Then there would be a public document, authored by a judge, declaring Trump had probably committed in a crime. By waiving the privilege, Trump has avoided that and can work on muddying the water before his impeachment.

How about this. The jackass is in serious trouble as he is trying to deal with his obsequious appearance with Putin and then there are all the government kidnapped, and abused, kids as well. This being the case the jackass reply is, normally, to misdirect with something that can remove those two subjects from the current news cycle. If true is was only partially successful but did soak up a bit of the cycle.

All that President Donald (Putin's Biotch) Trump needs is for the current SCOTUS Nominee to be confirmed and all of the troubles go away. SCOTUS is the next fight to stop him.

With wall-to-wall coverage of the Manafort trial in the news, ever wonder how Fox is covering it? "Judge cautions Mueller team on high bar for Manafort conviction"; "Manafort accountant with immunity admits having reservations about tax filings"... They had a LOT of stories about immunity... I wonder why?

As the Manafort case proceeds, the Wall Street Journal is now reporting that similar charges are being considered for Michael Cohen. This should make Trump very nervous as the pattern in both cases is very familiar: rich guy under-reports income for tax purposes, then exaggerates value of assets to obtain bank loans to support lavish lifestyle... sound like anyone else we know?

Quote:
Special counsel Robert Mueller may have already subpoenaed President Donald Trump to compel testimony about collusion with Russia and obstruction of justice, a top legal expert explained on MSNBC on Saturday.

...

“There is some sealed litigation in the D.C. courts, that’s bounced back from the district court to the court of appeals, back to district court, back to the court of appeals — in rapid-fire fashion,” Cunningham explained.

“The action was filed on Aug. 16,” he noted. “If you’ll remember, Rudy Giuliani said on Aug. 15 ‘We’re almost done with our opposition to a subpoena motion.’ The very next day, this mystery litigation began.”

“Only one judge has recused himself — from what we can tell from the public records — from consideration of the case, and that’s the one judge that Donald Trump appointed to this court,” he continued.

“You put the pieces together and it could well be the president, who is litigating with Robert Mueller, over a piece of secret litigation, perhaps a subpoena that Mueller has given to Trump and which is lawyers are fighting,” he concluded.

“It certainty would be a good way for him to use the period the before the midterms to make significant progress on the case,” he added.
