Well, I've had all I can stomach tonight. But there are some bright spots. I'll have more thoughts tomorrow after I treat my hangover.

Just as expected, Democrats took the House by a large margin. To that extent, the Blue Wave happened. They probably lost a few Senate seats, which was very predictable considering the map of seats being decided. That does not make much difference, since they are well short of any super-majority and even with the old majority they confirmed everybody. They still will, but House committees will now be able to subpoena anything they want. And the House controls the money!

No mistake, Democratic control of the House will significantly change the trajectory of the Trump administration, since laws still have to pass both houses and the power of subpoena means dirty laundry will come out into the open, but appointments still go through the Senate and GOP perversion of the judiciary will continue apace (and likely provide cover for Trump excesses). The GOP's brazen embrace of authoritarianism is at least as dangerous today as it was yesterday. I won't be at all surprised at a lame- duck move to repeal the ACA.

McConnell has already promised it.

I don't think Acosta has any choice: He has to press charges against the White House intern who tried to grab the microphone from him. Technically, that constitutes an assault. Normally a reporter would ignore that, but he has been accused of assaulting her by the White House using doctored video. The only way to clear his name may be to proceed with charges. If it ever got to court and her lawyers walked in with the doctored video as "evidence" they would get disbarred.

Watched a terrific free movie last night on Amazon Prime: Arrival is the story of a linguist who learns a very different language from some aliens and thus learns to think in a fundamentally different way.

Somewhat a remake of Slaughterhouse 5, but without the comedy and some interesting insights thrown in. Spooky aliens with artificial gravity and Faster-Than-Light spaceships are not really the important part of the film. It's about the way language affect our thought processes.

Yes, it is a very good SciFy flick and different then the last few years of SciFy offerings. Aliens come, aliens attack, aliens leave Earth united and victorious.
