This is a tricky, but necessary business. Trump will (hopefully) be brought up to reality about how the Constitution is supposed to operate. CNN's lawsuit over White House ban of Jim Acosta

CNN's Complaint is well-founded, if nearly unprecedented (because of how abusive the White House action was). It is difficult for a news agency to get involved in a legal dispute with the White House, because they try to be reporters rather than participants. But, the principles and Constitutional provisions involved (First and Fifth Amendments) are too important to avoid it.

I viewed the original video and it appears to me the WH video (without seeing but knowing what was alleged) is a fabrication of what occurred. The intern tried to access the mike two times reaching over Acosta's arms and finally reached under his arm which rested on the interns arm. It does not appear he swatted away the interns arm, but does appear he was trying to ignore the interns efforts.

The real problem was of course Acosta's questioning Mr Trump without providing appropriate praise and failure to sing a few hosannas.

The appropriate solution from the WH reality show should have been to completely ignore all questions from all reporters who do not genuflect, praise, and beg to ask a softball question.

Fox News stands with CNN: ‘Passes for working White House journalists should never be weaponized’ (Fox), but
Justice Department defends revoking CN...he White House'
(Business Insider). Of course, this is Trump's Justice Department, not exactly a bastion of support for the First Amendment (or 4th, 5th, 6th, 14th...), or, frankly, "the rule of law". My first pass at the DOJ Memo makes it appear really weak. It's not badly written, just that its rationales are inherently flawed, and, frankly, quite dangerous.

They argue "No journalist has a First Amendment right to enter the White House" (kinda the point of the First Amendment, really) "and the President need not survive First Amendment scrutiny whenever he exercises his discretion to deny an individual journalist one of the many hundreds of passes granting on-demand access to the White House complex." Well, that is not really the point, is it? He HAD the pass, and now it has been taken away. THAT is the action at issue.

From my point of view, any reporter who still has a White House pass is not doing their job. Press conferences are a privilege, not a right. I want to see how Trump deals with NO press coverage.

They of course have an obvious solution ... yes simply not have any briefings from any WH official, and release statements on Fox News

hmmm ... I think I hear the footsteps of the jackboots

The mainstream press should probably boycott the White House. Not much of any real interest comes out of there anyway. Lies and deflections, insults and stupidity. Gather the news elsewhere.
