William Goldman Dies; Oscar Winning Writer Of ‘Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid’ Was 87
I have been informed by friends of the family that William Goldman died last night. He was 87. My first wife's ex father-in-law, Sidney Beckerman. (Producer - Marathon Man) William Goldman was reportedly one of the only people who wasn't terrified of Sidney Beckerman. The other one was John Milius. Beckerman made sure that Goldman's first payment for "Marathon Man" was literally cash delivered in a brown paper sack...not because Goldman wanted it that way, because Sidney Beckerman wanted to prove he could have the cash delivered in a brown paper bag by 2:00 AM the night Goldman agreed to work on the film.

Bernardo Bertolucci, Oscar-Winning Director of ‘The Last Emperor,’ Dies at 77Bernardo Bertolucci, whose epic “The Last Emperor” won nine Oscars and who influenced generations of filmmakers with other groundbreaking works such as “The Conformist” and “Last Tango in Paris,” in which he explored politics and sexuality through personal storytelling and audacious camera work, has died. He was 77.
His publicist, Flavia Schiavi, said Bertolucci died at his home in Rome at 7 a.m. Monday. He had been suffering from cancer.
Italy’s greatest auteur of his generation, Bertolucci managed to work both in Europe and Hollywood, though his relationship with the studios had its ups and downs. But even when he operated within the studio system, Bertolucci always managed to make films that were considered projections of his inner world. MoreWikipediaIMDb

Ken Berry, Star of 'F Troop' and 'Mama's Family,' Dies at 85Ken Berry, the rubber-legged actor who delighted TV viewers as the blundering Capt. Wilton Parmenter on F Troop and as the accident-prone Vinton Harper on Mama's Family, has died. He was 85.
Berry, an agile song-and-dance man who was encouraged in show business by his U.S. Army sergeant, future Star Trek legend Leonard Nimoy, died Saturday at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, his ex-wife, actress Jackie Joseph-Lawrence, told The Hollywood Reporter.
The amiable Berry also was known for starring as town councilor Sam Jones on Mayberry R.F.D., the spinoff of The Andy Griffith Show that was created by CBS after Griffith exited the series — then the No. 1 show in the ratings — after its eighth and final season. MoreWikipediaIMDb
