Wait till this Thursday, The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade or The Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade or any of the many other Thanksgiving Day Parades. WHAT A SPECTACLE they are and so much better for your kids, grand kids or great grand kids to watch.

White House drops bid to revoke Acosta's press pass (The Hill)
Quote:
The White House is dropping its effort to strip CNN reporter Jim Acosta of his press credentials, a defeat for President Trump in his campaign against the news media.

The reversal comes after the White House notified Acosta last Friday it may renew its attempts to revoke his press pass after a judge's order restoring it expired. The White House set a Sunday deadline for Acosta to object and said it would make a final decision by 3 p.m. on Monday.

"Having received a formal reply from your counsel to our letter of November 16, we have made a final determination in this process: your hard pass is restored," the White House said in a new letter to Acosta.

The letter also outlined new rules for reporters at presidential news conferences, including limiting each journalist to one question with follow-ups coming "at the discretion of the president or other White House officials taking questions."

I'm not sure if this comment belongs in the "embarrassment" thread, or here, but a choice had to be made. In dropping the fight over Acosta's press pass, the White House announced "new rules" of "decorum" for press conferences. Not only is that ridiculous, it apparently doesn't apply to Trump or Sanders. It is a thinly-veiled attempt to create a pretext to stifle the press. I doubt it works, either. Sanders is very Trump-like in her thin skin, penchant for lying, love of one-sided combat, projection, and lack of a sense of irony over her blatant hypocrisy. The press briefing in this White House has been a worthless exercise since its installation. I'm not sure why anyone still bothers to go.

I think we touched on this earlier here. I feel like a simple boycott by all the major news outlets would cut Trump to the bone.
Chunk nailed it though, they still do it for the Spectacle. For the show, for the clicks on every headline that starts with TRUMP.

I have to agree with PIA.
If you still have a WH PP at this point, you're not doing the job you're being paid to do properly.

I want to see how Trump deals with NO press coverage.
I think we have to all agree with this, even if it's just a temporary experiment.

Just send a single pool camera op, set up, turn on the camera and leave.
Then watch him have a hissy fit when his own words are fed back to him.
Don't forget, he throws a fit and yells "FAKE NOOZ!!" even when it's his own words being played back to him, so that's the point.
I lost count of how many times he's blamed "malfunctioning microphones".

I see multiple problems and this comes to mind foremost.

Suppose MSM does not cover the WH fake news purveyors. The response would be to send all "news" to Fox News. Thus MSM would be forced to report what Fox News has, so all anyone would see is propaganda.

This was the problem as I see it all along. During the campaign I suggested the only reason MSM covered Mr Trump was to expose him for what he is. That did not work, and continues not to work. A huge chunk of Americans simply wanted someone to lead them, to guide them, to encourage them to be what they are, ignorant bigots.

As evidenced by many interviews, it simply does not matter how Mr Trump is exposed, his base will continue to love him (in every conceivable way thinkable) and his detractors will continue to expose his ignorance, bigotry, and corruption.

What is the point?

Carl Bernstein: Live White House press briefings are 'propagandist exercises'

Carl Bernstein on Sunday argued that cab...ress briefings.

Send in a camera operator from a press pool, turn on the camera and leave the room. Then collect the memory cards afterward and distribute the recording to the various outlets for post-briefing editorial.

a lot easier would be to just pick up the WH press briefing handout at beginning of day.

Regurgitating propaganda is not the solution.

Of course, but I'd still recommend doing both, and use the handout as a guide to what to investigate and fact check.
