None of the Above (NOTA)
This is a ballot option that only Nevada has on their ballot but, I think, belongs on ALL ballots. If the voter chooses this option then no candidate get the vote. The question then becomes, if more NOTA choices than candidate choices are made what happens next?
This is the fun part. The candidate with the most votes could be declared winner. The other option (the one I like best) is that neither candidate wins and the position gets filled just as if the position holder had died.
If, for instance, the 2016 ballots had "none of the above" as an option I suspect there would be a very good chance that "none of the above" could have won the election! The simple fact seems to be that the American voting public hold little, or no interest, in supporting many of the candidates offered and this would have been true, I think, in 2016.
