Speaker Pelosi finally said out loud, on camera, into a microphone, what she's been reportedly saying in private some time: Nancy Pelosi Says She’s Against Trying to Impeach Trump Because “He’s Just Not Worth It” (Slate). I think her approach is estute, and here's why: By saying what she said she did three things - It took the issue out of the Trump lie machine breadbox; it shifted the focus to Democratic priorities; and it demeaned Trump sharply. She is exceptional with a stiletto. Moreover, she left the door open for reversal based upon future discoveries (like the Mueller report and congressional inquiries). It's really still on the table, it's just not the entree.
A well reasoned argument is like a diamond: impervious to corruption and crystal clear - and infinitely rarer.

Here, as elsewhere, people are outraged at what feels like a rigged game -- an economy that won't respond, a democracy that won't listen, and a financial sector that holds all the cards. - Robert Reich

It just makes sense. Until the Democrats can be assured that at least 20 republicans, in the senate, will vote with the house impeachment is just a waste of time, ie "bilateral" is critical.

Trump is actually the best thing ever for Democrats: Just look at the 2018 House election. If he is revealed as the crook we all think he is, can you imagine the 2020 election? Most Republican now in Congress will have to run with a stinking dead albatross around his neck. Their only hope is to impeach before the primaries and claim they were victims too. I don't think they are that smart.

If Mueller has half of what I am hoping for. If any of the house investigations find half of what I am hoping for. Then Jackass will be toast and any Dem running against a sitting Repubican can point out somebody who went out of their way to support a criminal (and perhaps even a traitor).

The trick will be to hold back the Dems who want to impeach right now as that would just be a waste of time. If they don't have the goods the Jackass will walk and he just might be elected in 2020 as the Republicans will turn on their previously successful demonizers, liars, Russians, etc. and the American electorate will, yet again, pay close attention, ignore facts, science, etc. Whilst half of the Middle and Left will forget to vote.
