The House can impeach if they want...the Senate will not convict.

Democrats will lose. Right before the 2020 elections Democrats will lose. Then they will lose the 2020 elections because no one really loves a loser.

Does anyone here honestly think impeachment of Donald Trump is a good idea? Speaker Pelosi does not. Do you imagine your grasp of the political situation is better than hers?

2020 is the only thing Democrats need to be thinking about right now.

And I am thinking I don't see anyone YET who can carry the day.

If there is not that one charismatic, authentic candidate running, some Democrats and more independents will stay home.

Got to inspire people to want to vote.

Good start on a very long list (here are a couple more):
If you want a president who breaks the law... vote for Mr Trump
If you want a president who whines a lot... vote for Mr Trump
If you want a clueless president... vote for Mr Trump

Acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney confidently declared this weekend that congressional Democrats will “never” see President Donald Trump’s tax returns.

How Democrats Could Easily Get Trump's Tax Returns

Mulvaney apparently forgot that every one of Trump's New York state returns included a copy of his federal return, and New York keeps returns for 10 years. All the House committees have to do is subpoena those state returns and New York tax officials will happily comply. New York legislators are also working on two bills, one to tell their tax officials to comply with Congressional requests (sans subpoena), and another to publish tax returns of every elected government official (both state and federal) in interests of transparency.

The battle is over before it even begins. Now House Ways and Means Committee Chair Richard Neal may go to the Supreme Court just to humiliate Mnuchin and Trump, but he could get the tax returns from New York in less than a week.

The more Democrats and the media hate on him, the more Republicans love him. I can pretty much guarantee that we will see no impeachments between now and 2020 and probably none after that.

Mueller saw to that.

So I take it you're completely discounting that entire "Trump is pushing a drug called 'Trump's Tincture of Libtard Tears' theory".

I still push that theory because I think the only reason the Trump masses still love him is because he's feeding their addiction, which allows them to be blind to what's really happening to their future.
They live for the now, like addicts do.
But the only reason we are not getting through is because the spell hasn't been broken yet.

Addicts ALWAYS hit a brick wall sooner or later. Sooner or later something is going to break the spell, Trump's spell.

The only thing that will break the spell is a recession. I'd almost rather keep Trump than to see another recession like the last one...

War could do it too. Some things are worse than Trump.

What he meant to say was that congressional Democrats will never see a truthful picture of Trump's finances. His tax returns are complete fiction. Strategically, if I were the Democrats, I wouldn't push it to the supreme court. Once seen, Trump's tax returns will tell them nothing, unseen they remain another example of Trump's dishonesty and useful in the run up to the 2020 elections.

If the IRS was gonna bust Donald Trump for tax evasion they'da already done it.

I don't think they are looking for criminal activities, for as you have said the IRS would have charged him with tax evasion. He is guilty of aggressive tax planning as are many folks.

Of far more interest is who he does business with. Is he in bed with Russians interests which potentially influence American foreign policy?

His tax returns aren't going to say who he's in bed with. You won't even be able to see the bed for all the smoke and mirrors, much less who occupies it.

Nobody has proof that Trump did what Cohen said: Inflate assets for mortgage applications and deflate those same assets for tax returns. The IRS does not look at those mortgage applications and the banks have not seen Trump's tax returns. If they are released, the banks will see them, and then the shite hits the fan. People have gone to prison for falsifying mortgage applications, and for tax fraud. This is not something new.
