For the record the Korean War is not over. In 1953 we signed a truce with North Korea. A truce does not end a war, a peace treaty does.

I'd be cautious about the "able to" part because both the Clinton,
Bush and Obama White House were all invited, and they wisely decided against it.

Both Clinton and Carter HAVE in fact visited but after they left office.

US foreign policy for many Presidential cycles has been NOT to legitimize Kim by meeting with him as an equal. Too late for that now. He did talk with South Korea for as long as he has been running NK, like his father before him. They consider him very difficult to make any deal with.

International diplomacy is a carrot and stick game, with war the ultimate stick. Trump's guys only know about sticks, so they stink at the game. That's why they keep on beating our allies, when every competent President before him had a lot of carrots being exchanged.

My favorite part of that meeting is when they held hands and jumped back and forth over the DMZ line like two little school girls.

Golly, difficult making deals with a known liar? I'm speechless. gobsmacked

North Korea previously pledged denuclearization in 1985, 1992, 1994, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. Each pledge was a lie. If you believe any new promises Kim makes the future, Trump has five failed casinos in Atlantic City to sell you.

Couldn't agree more. Trump doesn't make deals. he makes demands.
It's a tactic that works great in the real estate industry, not so much in global politics. If you don't meet his demands there's no deal. And even if you do, contracts were made to be broken...

Trump is essentially Kim, as far as promises go. You make a deal, shake hands, and then when he leaves you discover your wallet is missing.
