It looks like, generally speaking, gerrymandering is nearing its end.

Politicians used to get away with just about everything because the bulk of the population was, for the most part, completely in the dark about it. Maps could get drawn in smoke filled rooms and the voters were none the wiser.

This here is the information age. Everybody knows everything as soon as it happens. And if it isn't right and it isn't fair then someone is gonna address the issue.

Gerrymandering is like that, so is the Electoral College. Wooden it be a hoot if Trump won the popular but lost the EC? Shoe be on the other foot then...big LOLS. Just imagine!

I suspect gerrymandering backfired in 2018: When you design as many districts as possible to win by 5%, it is disastrous if you are down 10%. There are no "safe" districts, because you moved the excess voters into adjacent districts.

You screwed the pooch.

Although I think gerrymandering should be outlawed. It's nothing more than our representatives choosing their voters than the voter choosing their representatives. 2018 in my opinion was way too late in the game. People move, people die, new voters get added to the rolls, the districts drawn off the 2010 census for the most part didn't look or have the same type of voters it did for the 2012 election cycle.

The classic example I use is GA-06. Drawn back in 2010 it had 15% more Republicans than Democrats. In 2018 the parties were even as folks from Atlanta and the surrounding area moved into GA-06. McBath a Democrat won the district in 2018.

If the courts are going to step in, they should have done so shortly after the districts were drawn.

I imagine quite a lot of changes took place since the districts were drawn off the 2010 census. People move, people die, new voters get added. Most districts I would bet don't look like much or contain the same partisan breakdown 8 years after they were drawn.
