It has been several years since we dusted off the rulebook here, but we have a number of new (and returning) posters so I thought it appropriate to raise the issue of the FORUM MISSION STATEMENT AND POSTING GUIDELINES. First, note the date of the Statement. Second, take a gander. There is a reason ReaderRant is one of the oldest discussion forums on the internet.

We Moderators are, sadly, fewer and less active than we used to be. We like to keep a light hand on the reins to allow vigorous discussion. There are, however, rules and expectations regarding behavior. While we (or at least I) have been lax in enforcing them of late, the vigor of our debates has reminded me that we have these guidelines for a reason and they have stood us in good stead for, literally, decades. Heed them, respect them. And, expect gentle guidance from time to time. Don't take it personally, but do take it seriously.

I knew this day was coming. I'll begin referring to fatass as his Highness President Trump per guidelines. smile

Just "His Majesty" will be enough and the bow should be subtle but noticeable.

So no more "45" or "Orange Menace"?
Okay just kidding, you're probably right.

We've been getting lax, and we don't want to give the newcomers the wrong impression, and we don't want to devolve into US Message Board or equivalent.

You're right.

I don't generally use cutesy nicknames or petty insults and manage to find plenty of other ways to show my complete disdain for the man and the party he represents.

We all agreed a while back that Donald Trump might not deserve the same respect as other elected officials. He has thus far proven our assumption to be true. Maybe not back to our authoritarian roots but we could at least pretend sometimes to sort of respect him or at least the office that he sullies..............

It's gonna be hard. But I believe in you. You can do it!

It's perfectly fine to say that you believe the President has committed treason, as long as you refer to him as President or President Trump. Lese Majeste is not a crime in the US, despite some silly posts from Russian trolls I read on other forums.
