I heard that Rudey Ghouliani Giuliani is the real hero. He’s the one who, “uncovered this.” Somebody pin a medal on him...

I assume he means the Biden stuff.

If I had more facts I’d open the investigation myself.

Atlantic article
Quote:
This morning, a former senior White House official told me this “entire thing,” referring to the Ukraine scandal, was “Rudy putting s*** in Trump’s head.” A senior House Republican aide bashed Giuliani, telling me he was a “moron.”

Giuliani's quest for dirt on Biden

Quote:
Parnas helped Giuliani search for evidence to promote a theory of corruption in Ukraine by Joe Biden, who could become Trump's Democratic rival in the 2020 election. Biden's son Hunter, who was on the board of a gas company in Ukraine, also was a focus.

That corruption theory isn't holding up under scrutiny, as NPR's Lucian Kim has reported.

Parnas argues not all the facts about this and other conspiracies are known yet. And he is not ready to release all the information now.

2014 article on Burisma/Biden stuff

Quote:
There is no legal barrier to prohibit Hunter Biden from working with a company that can be impacted by the policy decisions of his father, and the White House has maintained that the Vice President has not been influenced by his son’s employment. “The Vice President does not endorse any particular company and has no involvement with this company,” said his spokeswoman Kendra Barkoff.

But Hunter Biden’s new job, along with the association with Burisma of other politically-connected businessmen, has raised concerns among some Ukraine watchers. “It’s unhelpful when we are trying to get across to the Ukrainians to clean up corruption and special deals for special folks,” said Ed Chow, a senior fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a U.S. think tank. “It maybe sends the wrong message that Westerners are just hypocritical.”

Just read it.

First he has the timeline wrong about the Ukrainian investigation. There was no ongoing investigation when VP Biden made an offer the Ukrainians could not refuse and further the offer was not contingent on furthering VP Biden's personal wealth or career.

Now about the other. I already alluded to the standard practice of what can be described as nepotism in some cases and cronyism in other cases or as ya just gotta know the right people in other cases. This could be corrupt or it could be for convenience.

I don't know how Hunter Biden fits into this or any other possibility ergo take a peek and see if this is just the SOP of who ya know or was there some real corruption going on. I think the Ukrainians looked at it and found no corruption associated with Hunter Biden regarding his involvement with Burisma. The only possible corruption would be in placing him on the board, which based on current practices would be a stretch.

I have never liked the practice but then again, are there qualified people who want the job? Seems like this could be linked to another thread regarding corruption in government.

Exactly.

This thread appears to be devoted to simply allow someone just to talk to himself. smile

That would be too expeditious. There's a movement around here for thread purity. smile

There indeed WAS some minor nepotism in Uncle Joe putting Hunter on the board of Burisma. However, let us please enlarge the scope of what's happening in Ukraine with regard to Russia for a moment.

Ukrainians were being held hostage to Russia's oil and gas price manipulation. Meanwhile President Obama, and to a certain extent, Hillary Clinton, were both pushing the idea of fracking as a vehicle to insulate Eastern Europe (and the EU in general) from Russia's energy hegemony by supporting fracking, a drilling method which is certainly fraught with environmental risk if done sloppily.
(as is the case in many US sites! mad )

However EU has a stricter set of eco-standards, so as bad as fracking can be, it's not quite as bad over there, and while still not great, it was apparently better than being beholden to Russia's gas and oil.

Burisma: Fracking specialists.

Burisma: Supported by the Obama admin as a hedge against Russian influence.

Hunter: A somewhat nepotistic fixture "assigned" to Burisma, perhaps to keep Ukraine slightly healthier with regard to Russian energy.

Shokin: A somewhat corrupt Ukraine AG, who had connections to people and groups who "like" Russian oil and gas.

Are we all on the same page or did I get some of the facts wrong?
