Sanders is doing class politics as far as I can tell. I wasn't there but the 60's had a whole lot of radicals doing a whole lot of things. Not sure where Bernie was on the spectrum but it seems a lot of the social and economic justice he was on the side of follows a path already being blazed before the 60's.

What was the radical stuff he was doing?

I didn't mean to say that unions were killed off by Boomers and X'rs. Just that their popularity ebbed with this age demographic from what it had been. It now seems to be on the rise with the younger generation.

Taft-Hartley was the fire break, by the owners, on unions growth. Purging the left wing leaderships didn't help there either, from what I understand.
