I suspect they are quite wrong about various people testifying. I think the courts are going to uphold the House subpoenas, and everybody they subpoena will end up there or in jail. Once a few get jailed for contempt, everybody else is going to comply.

The last I heard the courts are going to hear the one about john Bolton and his aid in December or January. I have really never understood who the house can't go directly to the Supremes but I guess that's not gonna happen. As far as the courts actually ruling, with any degree of dispatch, apparently that's just not gonna happen. Remember, there is still one wending its way all the way back to the Obama administration.

I also don't understand why the House Dems haven't just sent out their master at arms, with a couple of D.C. Cops and arrest the miscreants and toss them into a DC jail. If they did that I betcha the courts would act with considerably more dispatch?

You are probably right about the courts upholding but for the rest? Doubtful. I do, incidentally, hope that you are absolutely spot on! <G>

I would think that the courts slow walking it could delay the referral of Articles of Impeachment going to the Senate. It would be premature to send them before they hear from everybody they want. Maybe that's not such a bad thing for Democrats running in 2020, because the impeachment will be that much fresher in the voters' minds. Especially if they make a bullet-proof case and the Senate finds him not guilty. Voters could want to send a message that they are not happy with a Senate that lets him skate.

It would be like judges who hand down a weak sentence and then get recalled in the next election.

Voters don't have much recourse where the Senate is concerned. 30 or seats will be up for grabs and the Senate may or may not flip but it will be by two seats at best.

If it turns out that the impeachment mobilizes Republican voters in greater numbers than than the anti Trump movement mobilizes Democrats then it's a moot point. Those Senators who let him skate will be rewarded with a second term for Trump and re-election for themselves.

Or maybe 2018 repeats itself, but even more so.
