Fatso Trump trying to "I don't know him" Lev Parnas may be the biggest mistake Fatso has ever made. Lev kept all the receipts and will not be ignored. smile

This is the first time I've felt this way.

Parnas says everybody knew... including Pence. On Bolton, he says that between the two of them they can connect all the dots. And Bolton was the only one who didn't like what was going on, so he is unlikely to take Trump's side (because of his approval of Trump assassinating Soleimani), especially in light of the Parnas evidence (my opinion).

Will this, and the deeper crap that is sure to evolve out of it, turn enough Senators to result in a conviction? It just might... The path to losing the next election by sticking with the King of Korruption is becoming increasingly plain.

Rick Wilson, former top GOP strategists says, "Right now there are three categories of Republicans. A fairly small fraction of them, like a third maybe, really believe in this crap. Really believe that Trumpism is the new way. They treat him as a king. A third of the Republicans are terrified of the guy. They are so scared of a tweet that they hide under their covers every day. And a third of them are like opportunists. They want the judges, they want the regulations for their donors, that sort of crap."

They also want to keep their jobs.

That's assuming history will mention the United States at all, except in the distant past tense.

It either changes the outcome of the impeachment or failing that, we as a nation are finished, and democracy is finished.
It will become one of those hollow and meaningless concepts, like "thoughts and prayers!" after a mass shooting, like "patriot" when witnessing an amateur militia carrying Nazi and Confederate flags together, like "Christian" when settling down atop a gold plated toilet and tweeting.

That wasn't sociologists, that was the Laffer Curve people, the Trickle Down people, the Wall Street people, the supply side economy people, the "outsourcing is good for the American economy" people, the "greed is good" people, the Ayn Rand people, the libertarian "anarcho-capitalist" people, the Right to Work people, the "gig economy" people, the "No Such Thing as Minimum Wage" people, the Powell Memo people.
I don't remember a single sociologist waxing poetic about it.

If any sociologists were predicting it, they were warning against it.
The only "sociologist" I remember talking about it wasn't really a sociologist at all, he was a social commentator....

...and a friend.

True. We're destroying ourselves from within much like the old Roman Empire did. Their decay came from within, our decay is happening in giant leaps.

I had previously opined I believe Bolton would tell the truth if he should become a witness. This morning Joe Scarborough says he believes Bolton has cut a deal with the WH to lie. Sounds more than cynical, despite the fact he may personally know Bolton, I will continue to stand the ground ... I believe Bolton will tell the truth ... this isn't about policy ... it's about the Constitution and abuse of power

The GAO, a nonpartisan congressional watchdog, said in a decision issued Thursday that the White House budget office violated the Impoundment Control Act, a 1974 law that limits the White House from withholding funds that Congress has appropriated.

The Office of Management and Budget told the GAO it "withheld the funds to ensure that they were not spent 'in a manner that could conflict with the President's foreign policy,'" said Thomas Armstrong, the GAO's general counsel.
"Faithful execution of the law does not permit the President to substitute his own policy priorities for those that Congress has enacted into law," the GAO wrote. "OMB withheld funds for a policy reason, which is not permitted under the Impoundment Control Act. The withholding was not a programmatic delay. Therefore, we conclude that OMB violated the ICA."

GAO says Trump broke the law

and ... despite the insurmountable evidence of abuse of power Trump supporters do not think it is a problem. Most Senate Republicans will continue to support Mr Trump in fear of a Base which would vote them out of office in favor of Trump loyalists. Power ... those sitting have it and they don't want to relinquish it.

We are lost ... the ideas of the Founders are nothing more than words written in smoke only to vanish with time
