Welcome to the ReaderRant Roundtable
for Winter of 2020

Holy cow! Solstice is on Saturday! Winter is here and it's time for a new RoundTable. Yule begins at dawn on Saturday 12/21 and Solstice occurs at 11:19PM Eastern time. That's when, on our corkscrew trip though space, the axis of the tiny sphere we live on is tilted the farthermost from the small shiny thing we are spinning around in vast immeasurable space.

It is the longest night of the year and by virtue of that, the shortest day. On this night, legend has it that the two mighty rulers, the Oak King and The Holly King will do battle once again and, once again the Oak King will prevail and the days will begin growing longer. They will battle again during Litha, at midsummer, and the Holly King will then be victorious! It's a little like the WWE in that respect because the winner is pre-determined.

Have a Happy and Blessed Yule, Y'all!

Um...**Addendum** Since I see we have an Australian member now...all that is likely to be complete hokum to him since he's dealing with the hottest summer on record since last summer.

They're actually celebrating Litha down there on the 21st.

True that, the "wet bulb" temp has been inching toward around 92 or 93 degrees. At 95, the human body ceases being able to compensate and heatstroke become almost a default.

By the way, I'm dropping PDX Rick's comment from the fall thread in here just in case, before I lock the Fall RoundTable.

Trump has declared impeachment null and void since it has not been sent to the Senate.

He can declare anything he likes. He has precisely zero authority on this issue.

He seems to create his own authority and doesn't need you to grant it to him. Ultimately his house of cards will fall but it looks like impeachment didn't do the trick.

Have you ever read anything in a dream? Or in other words, dreamed you were reading?
