As it turns out, my State Representative has been mentioned as a potential candidate. Were she to run, I would be an enthusiastic supporter. She's smart, dedicated, principled and gay. All, I think, the kind of attributes I want in my representative. Finding a candidate one can really get behind may be almost as good, and less personally risky.

What do you have in mind for policy development? Policy ideas make little difference until they are implemented on the ground. We all know the metaphor that the legislative process is like sausage-making. And it's not too hard to fantasize about what kind of sausage we want to eat. But how do we participate meaningfully in the process of figuring out a recipe, operating a sausage factory, and finally selling the sausage to (hopefully) satisfied customers?
