It's a blind obsession for both sides.

This is only true as far as partisanship goes. This is not a case of partisanship in the sense you are using the defined word.

While it is true Republicans support Mr Trump and declare him innocent (even if he shoots people on the Senate floor), they will acquit him in a demonstration of cult-like partisan support.

This is not the case with the Democrats. While it is true there were a few Democrats who viewed the emoluments clause as a legitimate issue for impeachment, House leadership considered it to be a very weak case especially since there is no legal precedents. Once it became known Mr Trump essentially attempted an extortion plot against Ukraine, House Democrats knew that was indeed an impeachable offense i.e. abuse of power. In no way did was partisanship involved in Mr Trump's decision to extort Zelenskyy. It was a pure naked example of gangsterism emanating from the WH. That you have problems understanding the issue is disconcerting. If sex in the WH is impeachable then one would have to admit possible crimes involving FEC regulations and Constitutional divisions of power are as well.

All I can say is Mr Trump ... please provide us with witnesses who will testify the conspiracy was nothing more than your concern about corruption in Ukraine.

Now which part of this had anything to do with partisanship???? O and BTW .... had Pres Obama done the same thing .... I would have called for Republicans & Democrats to impeach him.

I may not like what he does nor what he stands for. But is that dislike of these things constitute an impeachable crime that justifies removal?

Democrats supplied the impeachable crime. Republicans have made it clear that they like what he does and what he stands for. They will not convict him and will vote for his re-election come November.

Their will be great rejoicing among them for his second term. For he is chosen by God to lead the church during the latter days. His sins are forgiven before he even commmits them and he speaks with the authority of God.

So ya, it's not partisanship...it's fecking religious zealotry.

Cultisanship. As I said earlier, beware the fallacy of the false equivalence.

Rporter explained it pretty well in the Clinton Blowjob Impeachment vs the real bad stuff that Trump has done example. The Ukraine episode barely scratches the surface.

The Regressives are working diligently to move this country back to a monarchy, ruled by a privileged imbecile whose brain is syphilitic Swiss cheese.

Why? Is it a long game strategy, or a stupidly short-sighted gambit to retain power as their world collapses?

I've been trying to figure out what it is they want almost forever.
It's clear that they've bought into an alternate narrative in which there are bad guys who must be destroyed, and I'm a-feared to say, apparently it's the rest of us.
Our destruction will bring about their happiness, or so they believe.

Billions of dollars and billions of man-hours have been spent to craft this narrative, this illusion, but the bad news for them is, no amount of money and effort can maintain an illusion forever.

It's what happens in the meantime that concerns me.
After all, if you can be persuaded to believe absurdities, you can be persuaded to commit atrocities, and we're in the third quarter of the Absurdity League Championships already.
If they win, they get to go to the Atrocity Super Bowl.

And we will be playing sans helmets and personal protective equipment.
Or rules of any kind, other than what they make up.

We have one chance to vote.

Neither. It's the same tired s*** that William Jennings Bryan promised everyone: Simplification and a license to hate.

If you propose simple solutions to complex problems, the layman doesn't have to feel as if there are any problems that he isn't capable of solving, which ALSO allows him to despise experts as "ivory tower" types. The fact that the "solutions" don't have a prayer of working makes no difference.

And if the populist in charge "says what everyone is thinking", then the yahoos can feel free to express their hatred and/or unjustified feelings of superiority.

In short, Trump lets people be the very worst sort of domesticated primate and not have to feel bad about it.

He was a populist. What party he stapled himself to is irrelevant.

What did everyone think of Chuck Schumer's opening remarks?
For years I've felt his spine was made of wet ramen noodles.
