Interesting little bit of history here:
Ham radio let people all over the world talk for free.
That led to CB: Less expense, no license, smaller area. Still talk for free.
That led to bulletin board systems, as soon as users got PCs and modems. Still talk for free.
That led to the internet, where people from all over the world talk for free!
Also, imagine if, during the development of all those technologies, users had come to the realization that THEY were being bought and sold.
Ham, CB, BBS's, the general internet, none of them treated users as "the product"....only Facebook and these other social media platforms have done that.
We are NOT USERS on Facebook. We are "product".
Cambridge Analytica never hung out on 27.125 mHz or 147.435mHz and analyzed what people were talking about and using it against them.
