Remember that Saturday is leap year day and God can't see anything you do.

So have fun.

There is something to look forward to in the coming economic apocalypse:

Prediction:
"The Great Facebook Collapse of 2022." (or sooner)
It will be very much like CB radio - - one day most people will look up and realize that FB is just as toxic and useless as CB radio, and POOF!! it will become "crickets".
FB = CB 21st century.

I predict open source will eventually "bake" social media messaging capability into a tiny dongle so instead of a massive centralized FB ecosystem, our own devices will handle traffic and it will all be in the hardware.

You won't need to subscribe to anything.
The difference is, it will be more geared toward messaging and less on "platforms" and "pages".
And that's not all bad. People need to be less dependent on this stupid "global village" concept because as it turns out, the so called "global village" isn't worth s*** to begin with. We just suckered ourselves into believing it was.

It won't go out with a bang, more like a whimper, or more like IBS diarrhea. Instead of a great outrush, more like painful dribs and drabs, bloats and blasts.

Yeah sure, I'd miss my Leon Russell fan group but okay, I still KNOW all these people. We can be together many different ways.
I don't need lightning fast server architecture to share photos of Leon.

The Rant suffered when FB was invented, going from 6000 active members to the 30 or 40 we have now, but strangely enough, it's starting to become more active again. People HATE FB and Quora. The Rant is like old familiar friends.

FB might continue to exist but I suspect it will be a lot more like a business card.

During the peak of the CB craze it wasn't especially toxic.
A couple of years after that craze had peaked it DID become so, very much so in fact.
I was a ham and a CB-er all during that time period, and not just an ordinary CB-er either.
I gave in to the temptation and my average RF output was between 50 and 500 watts depending on which radio I was using.

CB radio linear amplifier - aka a "footwarmer"

I hate Facebook like Zuckerberg was Hitler's personal fart sucker. Seriously. I hate it like poison.

But when I find a Trump page, I can be me and still keep all my teeth, so...

Of course, that also means I spend 40% of each year with my account banned.

I just like to see pics of my grand nieces and my high school crush. Pretty much never post anything on Facebook, or LinkedIn either. But I do have over a quarter million followers on Quora. I am discerning enough to recognize when people are getting paid to ask stupid questions or others ask homework questions. Those just go in the bin. I've done a lot of things, so I have a lot of credentials.

Interesting little bit of history here:

Ham radio let people all over the world talk for free.
That led to CB: Less expense, no license, smaller area. Still talk for free.
That led to bulletin board systems, as soon as users got PCs and modems. Still talk for free.
That led to the internet, where people from all over the world talk for free!

Absolutely spot on.
However...

Before the internet it was thought that the cause of collective stupidity was the lack of access to information.
Yeah well, it wasn't that. tonbricks
