Whatever capitalism is, it certainly has not worked for the average American in the past six weeks. coffee

Your Trump $1,200 socialism check and small business paycheck protections is not capitalism, conservatives. smile

What it has done, VERY well, is make the strongest case yet for universal healthcare. This is not about rich or poor but survival of EVERYBODY! When everybody understands this (they need to be told, several times) we just might be able to climb that mountain. If so it just might be worth it all!

Remember, social undertakings, by government, are for the good of EVERYBODY! These undertakings become socially responsible actions by government for the citizens of the nation. This is why we have things like Police Departments and Fire departments. They exist because they make sense and serve the community. Universal Healthcare will provide, exactly, the same service for the same reason. The trick will be to explain it so that most everybody (there are always some who will never get it) understands that universal healthcare is not so much about taking care of them that don't have so much as taking care of EVERYBODY!

Whatever makes you think that rich people give a rat's ass whether poor people survive?

Look at Singapore: They have a very highly regimented society, and EVERYBODY followed the rules with regard to lockdown. They had just a few hundred cases.

But they forgot about their foreign workers, mainly because they are invisible. They live in very crowded dorms outside of town, and use crowded buses to get to their jobs in everything from industry to child care.

Latest count is 11,000 cases. And they are everywhere. This is a prime example of what can happen when a country decides their underclass does not get included in their healthcare system.

Look at the big prison towns in rural America: Very high infection rates and it's leaking out into the communities through the staff.

The thing that might convince Republicans we need to care for everybody is that Covid-19 especially likes old men, and doesn't care a bit if you are rich or poor.

Profit-driven capitalism proved extremely inefficient in its response to the Covid-19 virus, but Conservatives are loath to admit that. smile

Covid-19 is only doing to Capitalism in 2020 what the Black Death did to feudalism in the 14th century.

Hmm

Let me try again. Second Sentence:
"This is not about rich or poor but survival of EVERYBODY!"

In case you still miss it. My thought is NOT about rich or poor BUT EVERYBODY!
