The removal of statues is not the erasure of history. It is literally the removal of horrible human beings from their pedestals of veneration. All of these mass murderers and / or traitors will still be in the history books that chronicle their crimes, they just won’t occupy places of honor in our public spaces.

Agreed.

However, Conservaies don't view it that way...you're erasing their history.

"30% Say Black Lives Matter More Than All Lives"

https://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_...tm_medium=email

Notice the trend since 2015 and then this:

"Sixty percent (60%) of whites and 61% of other minority voters put all lives first. Among blacks, 44% say black lives matter; 47% all lives matter."

I'm fairly new here, although I have followed BLM for a long time especially on another site. I think the choice of names, "Black Lives Matter," by itself was a bad PR move. That it should have been, "Black Lives Matter Too, or also." Leaving off the too or also leaves the impression that to them, only black lives matter and no one else. Although that couldn't be farther from the truth.

The initial motive was to say, "Hey, our lives matter also." Not just yours. But that isn't the perception out there among the masses. Very bad PR choice of the name. But the trend now is in BLM's favor despite the name and its implication.

Pretty sure it's the overall, broader idea versus semantics at play here. smile

Black Lives Matter says nothing about other races. I think the only people who see it as diminishing the importance of White lives, would be the racists who feel the need to be superior over Black people.

Our national zeitgeist until very recently has been Black Lives Don't Matter.

I think you stumbled on the problem with the overall perception of BLM. They say nothing about the other races leaving the impression that only Black Lives Matter. It's like I said, it is a bad PR problem with the name itself. If this was a political campaign slogan, it would have been changed immediately once it became clear of how a majority of the people perceived it. A huge handicap. You can say only racists, that probably fits nicely into your political agenda and view.

There aren't that many folks who follow politics closely enough as those on this site or other political sites. They hear the name, Black Lives Matter and then tend to think or ask, What about all other races, about every life?

The name itself, not its agenda is a turnoff to 60% of whites, 61% of all other minorities other than blacks. Now I don't think you can call 60% of all whites and 61% of all other minorities than blacks racist. That's too easy a fall back.

The only ones that seem to be bothered by the BLM message are white nationalists like Matt Geatz. Hmm
