That was a month ago in a nation far away. And it appears to be dead wrong wishful thinking.

The problem with this article is quite evident immediately: He says (and indeed bases everything later) that the cases are going down because summer is here. Compare that to recent graphs of US cases in many states. Not happening! Case numbers are right back to the exponential growth we saw before the lockdown.

But I think he's right about partial immunity. There might be enough similarity between SARS-COV2 and other corona viruses, that kids who had those as colds are somewhat immune to SARS-COV2. He's also right about tests being fairly worthless. Both PCR and antibody tests. If you want a good immunity test, you need to see if your T-cells are activated against the virus antigen. That's not cheap or easy.

The really useful tests are well known blood tests to see if you have inflammation and/or coagulation markers. If you do, then you need steroids and anti-coagulents, respectively. These save lives and prevent most of the permanent effects of cytokine storm.

Lucky me...I'm already on the anticoaguants. The way things are looking pretty much everybody's gonna get this along and along.

There are anticoagulents and there are ANTICOAGULENTS. Or at least there is a mild dosage to prevent DVTs, and there is full treatment dosage. The full treatment is a bit dangerous because you could have a brain bleed at any time. Better than having your capillaries plugged up when the cytokine storm hits. They don't put you on that until you start having some breathing difficulty, though maybe they should to avoid permanent lung injury.

So if you're already on a maintenance dose of anticoagulants, will a heparin injection make a difference? I assume that's the ANTICOAGULANT you're talking about?

On the other hand since I'm prone to blood clots the 'rona would probably just kill me outright. That's the outcome I'm expecting if I get infected.

There are many different kinds of anticoagulents because coagulation is very complicated: There are a lot of places in the chain of events that can be blocked. Heparin is instant and IV injectable, which is why ER docs use it. Other drugs like warfarin can be oral and long lasting. Actually I was talking about low-dose maintenance versus high-dose full-on treatment with heparin.

But disseminated coagulation blocking capillaries may be the only way Covid-19 kills people! At least that's what it looks like in some autopsy reports that were published a few days ago. The clots in people who were anticoagulated, very likely occurred before they were given the drug. So your current anticoagulation might just be enough to protect you. Keep your Vitamin D level up there and you might be fine.

I'm pretty conscientious about my nutrition. I get some sun daily and olive oil is practically a beverage to me. I eat 3 freshly laid eggs every morning. Lot's of fish. Anchovies by the score!

I'm a full fat dairy boy too. My theory of nutrition is based heavily on the consumption of healthy fats. F*cking 'rona's got me eating too many carbs!

Just keep on getting that sun, and I bet you do okay. Get your body exposed, too. Half the time it would take to burn. Sunburn is NOT good, but half that is like taking 20000 iu of D3. Even TB victims do a lot better when they get some sun. In the 1918 pandemic, people in the sanitariums that put them out in the sun did a lot better.

This is a huge problem for Black people living in the North, and especially for Muslim women everywhere. They need to maintain modesty, but if they can't get Vitamin D supplements they need a private rooftop or something where they can sunbathe.

My wife is on a chicken mission. I keep on voting for two chickens but she wants six. What the hell are we going to do with three dozen eggs per week? And it's not like they will see the stewpot when they stop laying. She wants to keep them all as retired seniors in avian assisted living.

Sell them to neighbors to pay for chicken feed. We have a 1/4 acre 'yard' and the chickens are really keeping the bugs down - and they are a riot to watch.
