And individual gun owners have a right to free assembly, a right to form clubs and organizations. Like the NRA for instance...

You can wish it was against the law but if you wish in one hand and sh*t in the other which fills up first?

The constitution is very clear on militas. The second amendment starts with "A well regulated". The Supremes have always deferred to that one. The problem isn't the Supreme Court the problem is that those who would govern are incredibly lazy, unless properly paid for their trouble.

Simply forming a "march around in uniform with guns" club is not illegal. When you use those weapons to take over a bird sanctuary, have an armed standoff with the BLM, or drive through Portland shooting paintballs and pepper spray at random pedestrians, that's illegal.

It's not illegal to BE a private militia. It is very much illegal to do the things those militias do. Just pointing a gun at someone to intimidate them is a crime that can get you years in prison. Point one at an undercover cop, and he can kill you without penalty. Point one at somebody concealed carrying with a CC permit, and he can kill you and claim self-defense.

We have a long, and unhappy, history of militias. Most all seem to be right wing and racists. One that comes to mind is the Oklahoma Federal building getting blowed up but there are more. The FBI has been warning folks about them for years - to no avail. Now we have a president yelling about Antifa which, as far as militias go is kindofa joke although they, at least, seem to be on the right side. Now, however, we have a president who stands four-square in the camp of right wingers of all type and seems to also love the White Supremacists, et. al. There are a lot of them, literally thousands. The ones that did Oklahoma City are, incidentally still around!

No one is saying anything about free assembly. My argument has always been insinuating and posing in a role no one in an official capacity asked these knucklehead gun-humpers to perform. smile

Exactly.

The legal definition of a militia is to be state sanctioned. Hmm Otherwise, they're just a group of randoms who have gun-humping and costume cosplay as their common bond AND who have hijacked and misappropriated the label "militia" as their own. That's not cool.

laugh

They are assembling and protesting the protesters. No one asked the knucklehead protester's in Portland to be there either.

The rest of the country had peaceful respectful protests...they had to call the feds on yall's rowdy asses.

Shoulda gone home and raked your forests.

And the legal definition of a PRIVATE militia is to be not state sanctioned.

Yes, a stupid cosplay club. No, not cool at all.

But not illegal. Until some member breaks the law. Then the member is guilty. Not the club. Same goes for the BLM gang.

When some dumbass 17 year old kid crosses state lines to protect a used car dealership nobody asked him to defend with an AR-15 he was not legally allowed to be in possession of, in the state he crossed lines to get into, THAT's illegal.

Hmm

It was illegal for him to be there with a firearm, but it didn't become criminal until he chose to use the firearm.
