Today my wife had Sunday morning politics playing. I wasn't paying a lot of attention. I did hear, however, that one of the talking heads of tv asked her why she didn't just vote for the 1.5 trillion the republicans offered and, apparently, she got all up tight with such a question and accused the asker of being a Trumpite!
I have said this before and I will double down by saying that Pelosi should have settled this one a LONG time ago! If the Dems win it they can fix it but they gotta win. Right now people are being throwed out of wherever they live and some are losing their houses. States and cities are broke too and Pelosi is going to hold out for HER big deal instead of dealing? I wonder how the folks getting screwed over, for no fault of their own, think about her OR the Democrats. I suspect their thoughts are not exactly happy thoughts.
This is, I think, yet another Democratic screwup and there is no reason for it! None! Instead the Dems have gotten themselves into a win/lose thing with the Republicans. I think the question is why? or, perhaps, WTF! I swear, the Dems have proven their ability to screw it up time and time again and, I think, this just might be another one. My own druthers would have been for Pelosi to settle for what she could and announce that if they win its will get a LOT better and the Republicans are not on THEIR side. Instead she is into playing some kind of blame game and I am hoping it won't cost them too much.
Hopefully I am dead wrong <sigh>

Nancy says $2.2T, Mnuchin/Fatass Trump say $1.8T. Meet in the middle at $2.0T Fck Mitch McConnell. Bytch McConnell isn't passing anything because he's suddenly worried about a deficit. It won't matter what that ahole wants or says when he's the minority party in January 2021.

What part of the last 40 years of neoliberalism would allow you to see Pelosi’s behavior as a ‘screw up’ and not a continuation of an established trend?
You simply have to look at the current Dem parties presidential/VP candidates and their past performances in the last recession to see this as SOP for austerity corporate Dems.
Still, glad to see your outraged over Dem orthodoxy JGW.

The difference, I think, is because the Republicans do not want to bail out green states but only those states that are red. I consider that insane but if the dems just agree to them they can also easily toast Trump just before the election! They are, I think, blowing a good thing. If memory serves the republican states are usually the ones that have REALLY run up the bills as well. There are those concerned, on both sides of the national debt. That one is in serious trouble. Its a bit like the end of WWII. To balance that one they taxed the 1% 91% and then when down from there. I am probably wrong about the 1% (it may have been the top 5%). Might also mention that, in 1945, we really didn't have the wealth inequality like we have now. Anyway, they got the debt down. Ours, right now, is larger than our GNP which is seriously dangerous territory. That cannot stand without the dollar literally tanking. So, no matter who says what you can count on taxes, especially for the wealthy, to go up bigtime. If they (them in charge) don't have the spine for it they I would suggest you do something incredibly clever to save what you can because its going to REALLY get nasty out there! https://www.tax-brackets.org/federaltaxtable/1946

Red states are being hit hard right now by Covid and the spread is being directly linked to Trump's maskless super-spreader events. Covid is no different today than HIV was in the 80s and 90s. Back then, if you wanted sex with a stranger, you wore a condom. Today, if you want to talk to some stranger - you wear a mask and stand 6 ft away. In the 80s and 90s, you just assumed that everyone had HIV. In 2020, you just assume that everyone has Covid. You're welcome.

the spread is being directly linked to Trump's maskless super-spreader events Those are just the most visible tip of the iceberg. The bulk are just from his supporters who reuse to wear masks, and going about their normal lives, having family gatherings, sending their kids to school, going to church, etc. But then again, Trump is acting like Typhoid Mary on steroids: The Numbers Are In I'm just glad these are all his supporters.

...the bulk are just from his supporters who reuse to wear masks, and going about their normal live... Reuse or refuse? I reuse my disposable masks every three days or so by rotating them and using them twice before I toss them away.

I too have a cloth mask with a filter in between the cloth. I have a couple and throw them in the bag with my bipap machine (ozone) when I clean it.
