The current Trump guru doctor says that herd immunity only takes 20% and face masks are a complete and utter waste of time. If the Republicans lose, bigtime this time, I fully expect the AMA to pull that jerk's license to practice.

And that's why we have a record number of new cases every day. If you look at other countries where they have universal mask wearing, their death rates are tiny per 100,000 compared to ours.

I wonder if these maskless clowns would start wearing masks if some hemorrhagic disease was wandering around the local pub? or what about aerosolized anthrax?
I mean what does it require to make people take this virus seriously????

The solution is really quite easy. The question is how many of their friends have to get it and, rather than dying, live and bitch A LOT about survival pain, lung problems, and all the rest of it. Given their apparent inability to actually get it, my own opinion is that the number of friends infected will probably have to be more than two before most do.

Its unfortunate that simple warnings, by people who actually know, are simply either not believed or ignored. In other words there seems to be a LOT of people that don't learn all that easily. This being the case they simply need a little education from their equally not particularly bright friends. I have been noticing that when a family member gets it the surviving family also seem to get it.

That's a direct consequence of "go home and only come back if you have trouble breathing". Some countries have quarantine hotels for people with mild, presymptomatic, or asymptomatic patients. We just send them home to infect everybody in their house. Now, by the time they get tested they probably have already infected everybody they live with. But back when I was young, Public Health would actually put a QUARANTINED sign up on people's front doors. Now if you live with somebody infected, you are free to go out and spread your virus.

Our Public Health System sucks.

Yet another result of not allowing the at home buck a test. Somebody, last night, said they now had a test that used spit but still had to be sent out for the results. They are, and have been, working very hard to make sure there are no at home tests!

AND nobody, so far, has said a word on TV about this one. So, its just not the Public Health System but our supposed media who is claiming to be doing a great job with educating the public. They could put a little pressure on to get that one done but, evidently, its just not exciting enough.

The $1 everybody everyday spit test would take all the drama out of the pandemic, because it would just kick the cr@p out of it. What would all the news shows talk about? What would all the politicians do? Talk about global warming? The pandemic has results every day. Anthropogenic CO2 rise takes 30 years. Booooooring!

This is actually the way to get the economy totally open. About a month of everybody testing before they have contact with others outside the home, quarantining if they get a positive test ( < 15 minutes), would essentially end the pandemic in the US. Of course, a billion test strips would be a three day supply! So we need to really crank the little suckers out. You would also need some draconian punishments for people who don't comply.

Yep, its amazing! Our national jackass, had his administration allowed the at home testing strip would have, pretty much, beat the pandemic at least a month ago and, if everybody masked, they could return to where they want to be. The test is no secret and you posted it more than a month ago!

I think the problem is that he is surrounded himself with toadies who give him really bad advice because he knows pretty much everything, and his advice consists of re-wording what he has already said. In this particular case he choose to act on that and the simple fact that he actually believes he is a genuine expert when it comes to Covid. (after all, his advisors just re-enforced what he thinks anyway!)

Amazing!!

They actually have these quick test strips at select places, like the White House, NBA teams, etc. It would not surprise me if the Trump Administration doles them out to their buddies. It's almost like Trump wants as many of us to die as possible.

Why hasn't he used that emergency industrial law to direct manufacturers to crank them out by the billions?
